Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Don't know the cost I'm afraid, they all got replaced with the discs, no cost to me and I was too scared to ask.
Leading evidence: 'Replace with the discs, no cost' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). "Some owners of 996 generation cars have experienced problems with the discs delaminating when used on track days.

I have read reports of cars used only on the roads doing salesman like miles with little or no wear to the pads or discs.

Suggestion
At a cost of upwards of £12,000 to replace all four discs, most owners resort to replacing them with steel discs, Alcon being a popular choice.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
Has anyone had experience of ceramic brakes? I was looking at buying a 996 with them fitted and just wondered what replacement costs would be and roughly how long they lasted.
I have them on my GT3 and I'm not really a fan to be honest. Great stopping power, but not as much feel as good steel ones. My front ones were cracked when I bought it and after lots of argueing with Porsche(I bought it 7 months old from an OPC)I got them to replace them. After 1 trackday(in Bahrain) they were wrecked again. The rears don't seem to suffer from the same problem. If you aren't going to track the car, I don't think you will ever get them hot enough for them to be a problem. Although they are an expensive option, I wouldn't necessarily be prepared to pay extra for them on a 2nd hand car. Check them very carefully, I can send you some photos of mine prior to changing if you want so you know exactly what you are looking for.Max

At a cost of upwards of £12,000 to replace all four discs, most owners resort to replacing them with steel discs, Alcon being a popular choice. This has largely been rectified on the 997 GT3 RS due to extensive development time in the Porsche Supercup race series."
The brakes are on a Turbo S and I would not be using it on a circuit. So should they last as long as a traditional system as long as I'm not a real rockape on the pedal? Also I would welcome any photos Max if you would be so kind.
Should have elaborated: The problem seems to be with trackday drivers with road users seldom encountering any problems. Mine can squeak (which can be annoying) but I do like the way they "bite". Although I've not had the car long enough to pass an opinion - time will tell. Andrew
If you are not going to track it and they are in good condition, buy it(if the rest of the car checks out). I have read reports of cars used only on the roads doing salesman like miles with little or no wear to the pads or discs. They do occasionally sqeak a bit at low speeds. Don't know the cost I'm afraid, they all got replaced with the discs, no cost to me and I was too scared to ask. This was the worse crack I found, going virtually from one hole to the next, but there were hundreds of smaller ones about 8-10mm long.

I chose a 996TTs over a standard TT partly because of the caramic's increased sensitivity - less pedal pressure for the same amount of braking. They feel much better under normal road use. Had no problems with them, but only 8 mths in.
