Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

HELLO EVERYONE, I am currently undergoing the sarcriligious process of fitting roof bars to my 996 c4, feel free to slate and abuse as required but unfortunately it is something I have to so I can transport my bike around. Does anyone have experience of fitting these ? I went to remove the blanking studs from the holes in the roof where the bar mounts bolt in and they have all sheared the heads and are now stuck in. Presumably over the last 9 years the studs have got quite cost and a respray has meant even more paint has effectively glued them in. What am I going to do ? I have to get these bars fitted or I cant enjoy my other love - biking. if anyone has any experience of this could you please chip in with any suggestions, I am more than happy to pay to have the work done if required. cheers

POST 2Original post

I dont think many on here have the roof bars, so maybe a picture would help, as people prob arent familiar with the exact problem you have.

POST 3Original post

RJ Any garage of any quality will have a set of Screw Extractors, which will require a small hole drilled in the remaining thread, then the screw extractor inserted and turned to release the damaged screw heads !

Yes I use roof bars too, you get some mad looks. Will be loading them up with a huge tent and other camping gear in the summer. Bet I'm the only 911 on site, lol. The little blanking grommets are plastic so will be easy to drill out I would think. I'm guessing you have just sheared the flat slot on top?
