Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Why oh why did I dither for so long Can't believe the difference a little tweakery has made :thumb:

POST 3Original post

Well worth getting so you can tinker and switch maps in the cars in seconds....and return to stock for road driving  Probably even more essential if you start changing hardware such as exhaust and induction systems.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was tempted by the little gizmo but I didn't for the moment, I would fiddle with it endlessly for 8 weeks and probably never touch it again. Of course within a short while I will get it anyway, I'm just getting used to it as it is and realising that my tyre bill is going to go through the roof  Does it have a real use on the road?

POST 6Original post

Main benefit of the SPS3 (if you don't want to tinker with settings) is that you can return to your stock map (and back) very easily. Not only is this worthwhile if your car is under warranty and you want to take it back in for work (they will be able to tell the difference in power too and may ask you questions), but you can switch between stock and performance depending on how you intend to drive. Stock to go to the shops / long distance and performance if you are going out for a blast or on track.

POST 7Original post

I had a Revo Remap on my 996 with the Selctaswitch. Well worth having. Big Bob

POST 8Original post

How easy is it to hide the switch? Very interested in this for warranty reasons JJ

POST 9Original post

The Switch Unit is removeable. You select the Sport or Standard ie 2) or 1) Programme on the Unit. Insert it in the OBD Port on the underside of the dash in the passenger footwell. Switch on the Ignition until you get a beep, Switch off the Ignition and Remove the Unit. The car then runs on the programme you have set. There is also a Switch Position 9) which if selected etc. makes the car unstartable for anti theft purposes, say if you are going on holiday etc for a long time. Its a good system in my opinion as it give you the option of Sport ot Standard. I leave mine on Sport because I find the fuel economy is better, in this mode. Regards Big Bob :bye:

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well - a little time has passed now and I can't imagine why I would want to drive it in anything other than full blast mode  I use it to commute 80 miles every day but even so on a dull traffic laden journey the bottom end response which was my only gripe with the tt has improved so much I can't imagine why I would turn it off. The immobiliser is fine for anti-theft purposes and the insurance cost was tiny - I guess you all declare the mod

POST 12Original post

Originally I did not intend to. But after Phil Reby's piece on the car in Total 911, I believe I was too "exposed" (pun intended  ) and my identity was very traceable. So I did  Regards Big Bob :bye:

POST 13Original post

I must say that the system does look very very good. My only concern as always is ensuring that the original system looks completely untampered when in standard mode. (again - back to warranty). So when Revo install, do they modify the ecu in any way? Tricky stuff JJ

POST 14Original post

James. It only revises the programme of the ECU. So the Switcheable Device enables the ECU to recognise the 2 different parameters, ie Stock and Sport. To all intents and purposes there is no physical impact on the ECU. For all normal diagnostic assessments the revisions are untraceable. However Mike Cooper at DMS (A good alternative to Revo) claims that a detailed examination might just reveal a slight "finger print" of the Revo. He says the DMS does not. The DMS products do not provide the Switching and Security Feature however. Best Regards Big Bob :bye:

POST 15Original post

The Select Plus for Porsche actually allows you to adjust boost, timing and fuel and store a number of user defined programs in addition to the basic 2 default setting of the Select. This allows you to play around more easily and find the settings which you prefer. I can imagine there are a number of cars out there that have been remapped and then reset to stock for sale or just had a trial remap before removal. What pursuaded me to get the Revo was the free trial of a performance map (but I believe not the max performance).
