And unless money is truely no object then I would always recommend affording the warranty.

Does anyone here run their 996 TT without a Porsche Warranty?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

And if so, do you have it maintained/serviced by an indie? Or OPC?
Can you explain your reasons for this?
Thanks in advance.
Ian
Each to their own but I wouldn't run one without a warranty. If you have a spare £5k in your back pocket then OK but remember these are £100k supercars with supercar priced bits that can (and do) fail.
indy
I use a indy for all my work on my 28k o3 turbo, it just means i cant chop it in to porsche, only a indy dealer or sell privately
But then again porsche wont have mine in the door as its modded....
I have an indie warranty from Paragon but never had to make a major claim,it did cover a fairly minor claim which would have been excluded under the porsche warranty.
I only really care about a major engine blow, pretty much anything else is wear and tear as far as I am concerned. If it is covered smile if it isn't then pay up and remember what you are driving.

ran mine without warranty - if you have a well checked out car and look after it then an indy will save you money all day long...with or without warranty - they are pretty solid cars!
The Porsche is a great and reliable car - BUT. And unless money is truely no object then I would always recommend affording the warranty.
Regards Big Bob
I would recommend a warranty. I have had my 996TT for 5 weeks. Runs like a dream....fully serviced on the dot by an OPC. However see my thread

Running a 996TT without warranty
You need to look at a warranty as an
insurance
policy. Porsche act as insurers in providing the warranty, and like all insurers make a profit out of their customers.
Basically Porsche recieve more in warranty income than they pay out for warrantied work.
So,
on average
, you (the customer) will loose money on a warranty.
But what the warranty does do is protect you from that potential big cost repair. If you can't afford the cost if it does happen then the warranty makes sense. If you can afford it then give it a miss.
Yes its right, Block exemption means they cant discriminate against cars serviced outside the factory network, as long as its done to the factory schedule and with factory parts
