The main unit is installed below the indicator, so it's out of the way...the only problem is you need to peek around the steering wheel to read the display (which I rarely use tbh).
Leading evidence: 'Install below the indicator' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install below the indicator' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

It says PHONE on the stereo when in-use, mutes the CD/radio and the front speaker ring for incoming calls.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

As the itle suggests I am about to fit an aftermarket bluetooth phone kit to my C4S with PCM2. Any advice on a kit that works well with the stereo unit ie when the phone rings or I make a call it mutes the radio and the sound comes through the speakers.
Thanks
Steve
Hi,
It is a very std connection and I've had my CDC-23 working with the Nokia-7K and the Parrot. It says PHONE on the stereo when in-use, mutes the CD/radio and the front speaker ring for incoming calls. It also automatically turns the radio on for an incoming call (if it's off at the time).
The only thing I've noticed is that the CD continues to play during an incoming call (although muted), so after the calls, you'll notice that the CD is about 3 tracks advanced from when the call was taken.
Personally, I prefer the Parrot, as it seems to be compatible with a wider range of phones.
As for installation, I've found that the microphone is best placed between the A pillar and the oval part on the dash (near where the OEM microphone goes).
You can also install it next to the courtesy interior light (above the mirror), but the pick up doesn't seem to be as good here (ie. you have to shout when going above 60mph to be heard!!!).
The main unit is installed below the indicator, so it's out of the way...the only problem is you need to peek around the steering wheel to read the display (which I rarely use tbh).
Some people install it to the side of the centre console, but my Targa blind buttons would be obscured and if I installed it any higher, the CD storage unit would be covered.
Cheers,
GD
Whoops, sorry, I've just read that you have a PCM2, so I'm not sure about that.
Someone at work was telling me that it's possible to get an aftermarket bluetooth connection that fits into the SIM slot (but I believe this is for the newer versions in the Cayenne and 997)....might be worth checking to see if they do something similar for the PCM2.
I've got PCM1 in my 996 C2 and I have the CK 3100. I cannot fault it whatsoever and don't think I have the CD issue mentioned above (will check at home just to be sure).
I did however, get charged the earth to have it fitted (c£400) so wonder if you could get more for that sort of money!!
Got to leave work now, but let me know if you would like any more detailed info and I'll get back to you tomorrow!
The guy fitting this (Dick Fleming in Aberdeen) tell me that 1. The Porsche stereo (PCM2) doesn't have a mute so can't turn the sound down on the taking a call from the Parrot kit. ?
This doesn't sound right to me but I know next to F' all on these things?
Any advice guys?
Steve
