Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Check him out' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check him out' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i have a 2001 996 that I love. C2 Cab, 6-speed, black on black with 80K miles. Bought it on a lark for $21K, fixed some annoying cosmetic issues, and now it's my favorite car. Here's the thing.. It's still a 25 year old car. Squeaks, rattles, some worn leather. I've done the things I can but I'd love to pay someone to do the things I don't feel comfortable doing, to bring it to "closer to new" form.
Someone posted a while back about a shop in the UK that was doing it, but that's a bit more complexity than I want to undertake. Anyone know of a shop in the US, preferably the PNW, that does this kind of thing? My real goal is to get the car driving like new-ish, then drive it down to Slakker for a rebuild.
Seems like there's enough of these 996s out there that
someone
must specialize in rejuvenating them...
Talk to Peter @ Polonez Auomotive, he loves to play with Porsches. Tell him what you are looking for. His prices are great. Tell him Nick sent ya. I bought my 911 from him. I've worked with him for over 20 yrs. Des Moines, WA [phone removed]
They made thousands of these 996. There are good Porsche mechanics all over the country. Contact John Walker's Workshop in the state of Washington. He is the expert in aircool Porsche but he does all Porsche.
I fail to comprehend the ...
make it newish and then drive it down to Slakker for a rebuild...
Why not just deliver it to Slakker and then drive it home?
I realize; I've got a good mechanic right nearby, but I'm not looking for a mechanic. I'm looking for someone to make the trim look nice. To fix the seats if they need it. Maybe replace some carpet if necessary. Deal with some rattles. Fix paint issues. Do a lot of little things to make the car feel new again. Most mechanics, even well recommended local shops, look at some of this stuff and tell you it's an old car and not to worry about it, or they charge you book rates for individual parts of a job rather than an hourly rate for the whole thing.
That's exactly what my plan is. Get the car cosmetically looking and feeling like a new car, then drive it to Slakker, get an engine rebuild, and then drive it home. As far as I know, Slakker doesn't really do cosmetic refurbs.
