Am surprised to see this rusty 'disc" - is it part of the top-mount or will it just have been re-used on top of the new top-mount (hopefully underneath!!)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, have just had some KW V3's fitted and as part of the job I paid for new top-mounts all round. Am surprised to see this rusty 'disc" - is it part of the top-mount or will it just have been re-used on top of the new top-mount (hopefully underneath!!) Thanks!

POST 2Original post

No picture so at a guess your talking about the front shocks and the rusty bit would be the old bearing carrier or the cover . This isn't part of the top mounts so will have been reused i expect .

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks and sorry, photo now attached. As per title it's the rear shocks....

POST 5Original post

Someone on here (Alex or MC I think?) did a post marvelling at how expensive these are. A lick of paint would have sorted that out!

POST 7Original post

Aghhh i see now .. normal to reuse these and nothing to worry about .

POST 8Original post

They should have given it a lick of black paint .

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks all, agree they could've given them a quick paint, but they're out of sight so no real harm done. Was just checking that they weren't the old top-mounts...!
