Car is on adjustable suspension so no issue with changing a bit the camber but do not want to go crazy with it.

Suggestion

Plenty of people run standard wheels with 20mm spacers on the rear, which would equal et65 - although I'm not sure what size rear tyres they run, 285 section may rub, where 265 session may not.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, I am looking to replace my Carrera IIs rims as i found out they are replicas, and they need a refurbishment anyway, so instead of spending money on them, I will replace them all together. I have found some Kerscher FX18 wheels for sale Fronts are 8.5 x 18 ET48 Rears are 10 x 18 ET45 I would assume the rear ones would create some issues as the offset is too low vs the stock (45 instead of 65). On the other hand it seems that people mention they fitted them on 996s and also the pdf for the certification on Kerscher site shows them approved for the car.. Car is on adjustable suspension so no issue with changing a bit the camber but do not want to go crazy with it. The other option i found locally (I am in Cyprus) and i Like is some Carrera IV wheels from a 997.2 c2. Those will fit nicely but I think they will modernize the look and won't suit the car so much.

POST 2Original post

Plenty of people run standard wheels with 20mm spacers on the rear, which would equal et65 - although I'm not sure what size rear tyres they run, 285 section may rub, where 265 session may not. https://www.willtheyfit.com/ In put the wheel dimensions and your desired true size so see what clearance you may have.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Surely you mean they put 20mm spacers which equals et45? I have used that tool and it shows 20mm. I am keeping the standard 265/35 rear tire (996.1 size), but I am not sure that these extra 20mm will fit under tthe arch. Thank you P.

POST 4Original post

I have 9.5" x 19" ET45 resulting in a 13.7mm further poke out at the rear which works really well and 8.5" x 19" ET45 on the front. This results in a further poke out of 17.7mm but also moves the wheel around 15mm towards the strut which has resulted in a slight rub against the arch liner on full lock. A lower profile tyre may resolve this when the time comes.

POST 5Original post

I think you will be fine with what you are proposing. For reference, my 1999 C2 has essentially GT3 fitment of Front 8.5x18 ET45 with 235/40/18 Rear 11x18 ET60 with 295/40/18 It is lowered with a bit of camber (but not loads) and no clearance or scrubbing issues (but is as close as I'd probably want to go). I think what you are planning is well within those specs.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you so much for your feedback! I am mostly concerned about rear wheels. Even compared to those 19 inch setups, the kerscher ones poke even more. They result in 20mm poke which is more than the 2 cases mentioned in this thread. I guess only trial and error will show if they fit with no further camber adjustment! I already got the Carrera IVs as the price was reasonable, but I might get the Kerschers as well because I like them so much. If they fit then great, else I ll get a car that fits them!

POST 7Original post

This is what my rears look like for reference.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This looks great! Great fitment! Well you mentioned a poke of 13.7mm but the wheels I am talking about have a 20mm poke. I contacted the guy to get them anyway, and I will try to fit them and make the camber a bit more aggressive to fit them! Thanks, DJLoDY, seems that your fitment is closer to the one I am looking into, just 2.3mm difference, which seems that it will be ok! Lets see.

POST 9Original post

To the OP I have had these Kerscher wheels fitted with zero issues. Sat well in the arches. http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=124107&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=80

POST 10Original post

Hi there - you might find some of the responses in this thread helpful: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?p=1634102&highlight=#1634102 For reference, the wheels I have ordered are 10J ET47 (265/40 tyre) / 8J ET41 (225/40) - final fitment tbc but they will fit!

POST 11Original post

Using a rear wheel with an ET45 offset and adding a 20mm spacer makes the wheel ET25, not ET65. An ET25 18 X 10 wheel will not fit on the rear of a 996 (either widebody or narrow body)

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In the end i went with them. Most of the time i really love them. Sometimes i feel that they hide a lot of the caliver or that they are really retro looking, more than the car. The biggest negative is the weight though. I found them to be 3kg more per corner compared to the copies of Carrera II that were on the car. I will know the exact weight of them without tyres when i will go to replace the tyres with new ones in the next couple of weeks. Now the photos:

POST 13Original post

The Carerra II are about as light as you will get so any wheel is going to be heavier. Looks good IMO.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes i guess weight should be almost the same like standard turbo twists. Because they were replicas Carrera II wheels I was thinking they were going to be heavier! Am not sure if the rear ones are rubbing when hitting a pothole. I noticed a thud when hitting a pothole but maybe it was something else. I ll give it a bit more negative camber when I ll go for an alignment
