Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Long story short coincidentally I'm having a new windscreen fitted on Friday therefore I will hopefully have the opportunity to do a continuity test from presumably a plug (or whatever) that the windscreen plugs into along the cable to the FM plug behind the head unit...???

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm currently replacing all the part 20-year-old/part previous owner upgraded hifi I'm not sure whether the FM aerial plug I've found behind the old head unit is from the windscreen or from an aftermarket areal. As far as I can tell there is only a stick-on DAB aerial on the windscreen, but this has 2 wires coming from it. Could this have split to the DAB plug and also the FM plug?? (it's a right mess of wires behind the headunit so I would'nt be surprised if anything original had already been cut out, hence me replacing as much as I can.) Firstly, am I correct in thinking there will be a traditional FM plug on the end of an aerial cable from the windscreen? Long story short coincidentally I'm having a new windscreen fitted on Friday therefore I will hopefully have the opportunity to do a continuity test from presumably a plug (or whatever) that the windscreen plugs into along the cable to the FM plug behind the head unit...??? Hope that all made sense??

Yes there is a standard coax plug at the radio end and the other end another coax plug that comes out behind the drivers side A pillar just above the dash. This plug goes into a little white amplifier about the size of your index finger that is bolted to the a pillar. This has a 12v in and an out that is connected to the aerial on the windscreen. If you just pull off the A pillar trim you can see it all.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
