Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys I use a bluetooth / FM transmitter that is plugged in the cigaret lighter to listen to music on my phone. What I have found is that whenever I use it I get whining noise/sounds that gets louder with the revs. No issues when I listen to the radio or cds. Is it just my FM transmitter or is there anything I can do to get rid of that? coped with it for a while but it's 'driving' me mad now! hoping there is a quick fix.

POST 2Original post

Sounds like you have alternator whine which is caused by a ground loop (a quick Google will provide more info). It's worth trying a different power socket for the device you are using - ifs possibly related to the power source you are using. Failing that, you can get fm modulators which allow you to run the car aerial though it - this should provide a much better signal. A bit more info on what kit you are using and what you want to achieve might be helpful.
