Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
You can have an ecu map without anything else and it is probably the best bang for buck.
Leading evidence: 'best bang' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'best bang' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend nine excellence' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I have a Tubi Style on mine, and probably the biggest tail pipes you can get 😅.

Expensive but tailor-made - I'd recommend Nine Excellence.

- seen gundo hack, cats 200 replace - like a louder rasper note - start with hack and then see if swop out cats ?

Been a long time since had Porsche, getting a turbo 996 for the second fun car and doing a full run-through of what's needed on it.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Hi
Been a long time since had Porsche, getting a turbo 996 for the second fun car and doing a full run-through of what's needed on it. Sorry, few questions, been looking around but confused myself lol.
Tires
- running on 997 Turbo alloys - Michellin PS2 tires or others best?
Convertible hood
- rear of the car in both corners looks like missing two caps that cover metal parts - see the picture - not sure what to search for.
GT3 Short shift changer
- seems a good part to add or do, thoughts?
Exhaust
- seen gundo hack, cats 200 replace - like a louder rasper note - start with hack and then see if swop out cats ? what do others have.
ECU remap
- search this and its minefield lol - extra 50 bhp? Also if get an ECU remap assume need to update the clutch at the same time, the standard one has 40k on it at moment.
Sorry lots of questions thought smash into one post lol.
:welcome: back.
PS2s are great but a lot of people are raving about the PS4S.
You can't just 'gundo hack' a turbo exhaust. Getting more noise from a turbo is a lot more complicated and expensive than that. A replacement system is the way to go.
A standard clutch will cope with a lot more than a 50 bhp increase.
Have a good scroll down the 996 sub-forum topics list and you'll find plenty of thread titles to give you more info on each of the above. :thumb:
Awesome thanks for the welcome
Been trawling through and of course spent hours reading too much ha ha.
Thanks for the Turbo exhaust aspect, assumed would be the same as standard 996 oh dear haha, Ill put that down as later tasks.
Yes seen lots of reviews about the PS4s, as need to buy 4 want to make sure get ones out the gate that arent to soft, never liked the P P Zeros.
Good news on the clutch as wanted to do remap test that out, then upgrade exhaust, other parts and clutch ideally keep as still in life.
Fingers crossed get some sunshine now
ECU - cheap - try and cobb access port off the shelf tune. Expensive but tailor-made - I'd recommend Nine Excellence.
You can have an ecu map without anything else and it is probably the best bang for buck. Next is an exhaust...and then it gets more involved. If you are going to get an exhaust...then map it after.
Exhaust - kline seems to be king; Europipe gets great reviews and there is one for sale on the ads here.
Re: Not sure if this is right part for rear
Hi
That is the correct part that covers the hardtop connecting mechanism.. Its missing the small round cap that fills the hole in the top.. Then it is places in the hole left when the hardtop is removed.. A pair are around £18 from an OPC if my memory services me correctly
regards
Johnny
Welcome ðŸ‘

I was thinking of a remap also, not sure who is the best
Hi!
I'm just about to get a 996 TT, so I've also been looking into some of these questions :
For short shifter, the general consensus on the forum seems to be contact Alex, all the details in this thread :
http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=127355&highlight=
Exhaust, from what I've seen the most reasonably priced is a modified original exhaust from Gert at Carnewal :

Enjoy!
Thanks for quick replies
Thanks everyone for the replies.
Messaged Alex on GS and hoping next week for more stock and as local hope to collect and also check out his head unit, my second upgrade, then its paint and wheel refurb and paint plus window and headlight tints.
Looking at larger headers, exhaust, intercoolers, waiting to do full re-commission walk through and see how everything is looking but definitely want a more raspy note and some popping (My other car is Maserati GTS 4.7 with x pipes, I know a V8 so wont be like that but give the turbo more noise from that lovely flat 6)
