GD,Try this.Jack up the car so one of the rear wheels is JUST off the floor, remove the wheel and place a stand or bricks etc under the base of the strut[so that the structure cannot drop],then lower the jack so that the body comes back down but the wheel hub stays where it is.Now ,using the screw in bars that come with the car, slide your wheel back on and measure the gap you want[i.e.5mm]stand back and see what it looks like.Repeat at 7mm,9mm and 11mm also checking the clearance between the tyre and outer lip.Pick the one that looks best! The following are available

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I did a quick search on this topic and a few people have mentioned that they'd like to do it, but not actually seen a posts of it being done. Porsche Teqeuipment do a 5mm spacer kit, that goes on narrow bodied cars and some (eg. Turbo II and Carrera 5 spoke) wheels (which also comes with bolts). Has anyone actually installed this and what was the outcome? Cheers, GD

POST 3Original post

If you install the 5mm spacer kit, make sure you use the extended wheel bolts. On the Mk1 GT3, these bolts are indicated by an orange collar on the bolt.

POST 4Original post

No replies, he I've been thinking of the 5mm spacers on the new 997.2 as well. I'm thinking 1/2 cm is not going to be visible, but I would really like to find some pictures of the wheels/wheel wells of the stock and +5mm spacers setups to see if the wheels better 'fill out' the wheel-well.

POST 6Original post

I've got the Porsche OEM spacer kit all round with longer bolts (orange collar). I'm pretty sure it's the 7mm kit but could be 5mm, never measured and I didn't purchase. It fills the arches nicely on the rear (see my garage pics) but would like a little more on the front. I tried fitting 9mm spacers to the front but in the end thought against it for performance issues (I got minor wheel/arch rub with the OEM spacers on a fast tight right hander with large dip). You have to consider how low/high your car is sitting too as this will have an impact as I found out 8)
