When I bought the car, the dealer had fitted ATE pads which I have "cooked" after some spirited cross country driving in the scottish highlands.

I have used design911 a couple of time with no problems, the only complaint i have is the prices look good on tinternet until you checkout then they add the VAT and delivery and it suddenly seems a bit pricey.

I'm a newbie to this forum and am looking for advice on replacing the brake pads on my C4S.

I can't really comment on Fast road / track pads as i havn't had any fitted to the porsche but i have had EBC Red Stuff pads fitted to my previous car (54 plate Scooby STI) it stopped great when you were giving it some but were crap 95% of the other time, these were a bit extreme for fast road / normal use but there's plenty others on the market...

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

From searching this forum, it looks like everyone recommends Textar pads. Apart from cost benefit over genuine Porsche items, are the Textar pads comparable in terms of fade resistance and feel?
Thanks
Welcome Mate :bye:

Once the brakes had bedded in I couldn't believe the difference in brake performance - the brakes originally felt very wooden with little feedback, with the new stuff in it feels great, more feel less input required....

Pagid are suppose to be quite highly rated, and they offer a Sport Pad which is designed for fast road / light track use....
Hope this helps mate,
Graham.
Thanks for welcome Graham!
I'm not looking for a track pad, just a daily use pad that can take the odd beating when I head out into the highlands.
I was looking for a Pagid Sport pad but couldn't find a retailer and not keen on EBC so down to choosing between Genuine Porsche or Textar.
I'm hoping to see what the consensus is from the forum before taking the plunge.
Hi,
I went for textar pads and Porsche discs.
i believe the pads are exactly the same as Porsche parts without the Porsche part number stamped on it.
Serbo discs are the same for narrow body 996s, but not for widebody AFAIK.
i have found the textar pads to be fine, no probs at all.
hope that helps, also don't know if you have seen it, but seagull had a good post on brakes a while back.

Hi if your after the Pagid's pads there available from design911 try -
http://www.design911.co.uk/
and look under performance brakes.
They are approx 140 quid for a C4S then there's the dreaded VAT on that.
I have used design911 a couple of time with no problems, the only complaint i have is the prices look good on tinternet until you checkout then they add the VAT and delivery and it suddenly seems a bit pricey.
And no before you ask i'm not on commission
F1_Dragon: Yes I have read Seagull's post and a couple other on the forum which is why I'm not trying to decide between Textar and genuine Porsche pads.
I guess I just want to find out if there is a difference in pad compound between the two as it just seems to be just prices at the moment.
Graham, yes I have seen Design911's site thanks.
