Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I find the use of EAR Plugs are a good solution to creaks and groans in a car.
Leading evidence: 'Use of ear plugs are a good solution' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use of ear plugs are a good solution' (1 discussions). Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just brought a 2001 996 C4, absolutely love it but not sure what to expect from noises from around the car, everything seems fine no rattles etc but when I reach exactly 40mph is sounds like a wind or humming noise. only at 40mph not 45 or 35 or even 80. is it just the air blowing through the vents or around the tailgate. Can anyone advise?
I've got the same car and i get noises but i've just decided not to worry about them because it'll only do my head in, i get obsessed that something is wrong with my car all the time which ruins the whole experience, just drive it and if something breaks fix it is my advise to you mate.

I find the use of EAR Plugs are a good solution to creaks and groans in a car.
They work well too with Mrs Big Bob :worship: when reading car magazines :food:
Big Bob :bye:
best solution is not to drive at 40 mph!
IMO both the 993 and 996 are rubbish when it comes to wind noise so do as Dave says, ignore and have fun :driving:
I'll second that... My solution is wind the windows down in built up areas and drive below 40 mph and listen to the exhaust, then windows up and floor it when you see the de-restriction signs
Thanks everyone for the GR8 feedback, never owned a 911 before so any feedback is good. Can't belive what a fantastic car they are. You read as much as you can before you buy, but there's nothing like the real thing. and what a GR8 site this is for information. CHEERS!!!!!!!!
