Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 996 c4 and the door glass at the top position bobs up and down on n/s . I have also come back to a locked car and found the roof down in the past. Any Help would be good thanks. Mark

POST 2Original post

is your window correctly lowering and raising when the door is opened and closed ?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

the bobbing stops now and then and it works ok or if i open the door it stops so i drive with window open a bit and bobbing stops when i lock car with fob.

POST 4Original post

Try using the search forum top left of page for windows. There is a way of resetting them but I can't remember off hand how to do it. I think; with doors open, wind windows all the way down, holding the button down. then wind them back up again TB

POST 5Original post

Common fault in a 996. It is a microsensor in the door locking mechanism. Have had both sides go on my car. Good news is that it is covered under the OPC warranty, if no warranty then expect a bill of c£300.

POST 6Original post

yep - microprocessor - had this replaced on mine and all fine now. i had both windows drop whilst 80 mph on the motorway!!
