Suggestion · Original poster

I recently got some 2003 back boxes to replace the ones I had on my 2001 C2 and the tips are quite a bit bigger on the newer ones.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, Can anyone tell me if the exhaust tips from a standard facelift car will fit a pre facelift or are the apertures in the rear bumper different? I recently got some 2003 back boxes to replace the ones I had on my 2001 C2 and the tips are quite a bit bigger on the newer ones. Thanks

POST 2Original post

Im pretty sure they are the same. I replaced my facelift car's backboxes with Oettle units and new Schnell tips and they all fit fine. So far as I can tell its the same. I would advise replacing the clamps though if you cant get them off as only £8 each and the old ones dont open very much due to compression over time. If you cut the bolts it ruins the spacing. I wasted much time trying to buy new bolts for the existing clamp only to buy replacements.

POST 3Original post

I've basically got the same question. There seems to be 2 types of pipe fitment on the back of exhaust tips. One's that come straight out and one's that bend up at aprox 45degrees. From searching I think the pre-facelift have the bend and the facelift have the straight pipe, anyone know if this is correct? I'm guessing since I've got an '02 I need the straight out pipe. Oh, and I have looked under the back of the car and I've emailed manufacturers and they've given conflicting answers... :?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Stuart, It seems that the pre-facelift and facelift tail pipes / tips do differ slightly. The earlier ones are at a different angle and are a different size and shape. Added to this the "cut out" in the rear bumper is different too. Neither of our cars use the straight pipe stype tips though. Are you in need of a nice / shiny pair of facelift exhaust tips? If so I have a set as I cant sadly use them on mine and have put the originals back on. Let me know if you are interested before they head off to Ebay. Happy to sort out part numbers and pictures if needs be. Guy
