Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is my exhaust box in its way out? Those were the only cracks I could find on that side of the exhaust, on both sides. Reason I was looking under the car (again), I think the exhaust is getting louder. Note the word "think". As I don't DD the car it is quite hard to remember what it sounded like last week, or two weeks ago. Will one of those repair kits kits be enough to stop the split from spreading, or would this require a proper welding job? I'll also remove the rear bumper in case the welding from the gundo hack is starting to crack.

POST 2Original post

Maybe just grab these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/SPORT-EXHAUS...-/351674589716

POST 3Original post

The kit looks like a reasonable solution and more practical than the previous post. You can usually get used cans for $200-$300 but of course shipping is going to be the killer for you. So if the fix doesn't work, I'd just pull them and take them to a custom muffler shop for repair.

Yeah gonna be too expensive due to shipping. As far as i know there is only 1 996 being parted out in NZ! I'm seriously tempted to apply the kit and hope that it'll hold everything together. But will check that the welding for my gundo hack is indeed still holding up.
