Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Really can't have this item at all. Dates the car terribly.
Has anyone found or better still fitted, any alternative unit? Even just another storage tray.
Links to possible alternatives would be appreciated.
Andrew
Carnewal has the product, just need to choose carpet colour and trim material, can also be sourced from an OPC for marginally cheaper but longer lead time.
Not my car...

Vlad pointed me in the right direction on this one, I really like it but it's not to everyone's taste...
The lip is doing well thanks (touches wood)... Have a 2700 mile trip starting Tuesday night down through France so that should be a real test. It surprises me that I can still get over certain bumps but drive ways and NCP ramps can be a nightmare... It even survived a 60mph head on collision with a hedgehog at the weekend, the hedgehog was sadly not so lucky
Oh, I ment to add, if you have electronics in the dash bit infront of the gearstick (like heated seat buttons) you'll need to move them up into the centre dash bit by the radio. Be prepared for alot of swearing and bloody fingers! The actual install should take around 30min, mine took 2 hours trying to get those bloody switches relocated!!!!
Stuart, your correct with your thoughts, I replaced the CD holder with another storage tray as per,
http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=36054&highlight=storage+tray
Cheers guys. Quite like the look of that Stuart I have to say and yes I have the heated seat buttons. I take it just a wiring loom and switch swap with blanks or unused buttons such as cabrio lowering by the radio.
Link for the install doesnt work by the way.
Just about to ask for a link for the other tray but see flatsix has shot in ahead of me so see what his says....
Flatsix, that looks just fine. Much better than a cd holder. I think that dates the car more than anything else. Might as well have a video tape holder.
Ill start looking for sources for the tray but if you have any links they would be appreciated. How much did it cost you?
Still liking that look of Stuarts too though. hmmm
Weird, the link was working this morning and now I can't access it either, tried accessing it from other sites too but no joy either, maybe you have to sign up to Rennlist for it to work :?
The wiring loom for the heated seats is not long enough to stretch to the switches by the ash tray so you have to feed it up behind the support bracket for the dash. Best to go to the RIGHT of the main bracket as then the loom should reach, going to left means the loom isn't quite long enough, you'll see what I mean. You'll have to take the centre dash front off (it's pops off) then remove the aircon unit to get your hand behind the radio and pull that out partially. You'll need as much space as possible to get your hand in there whilst also getting another hand back up under the dash by the pedals to feed the cable
The loom just reaches to get replace the bottom switch on either side with your heated seat switches. Oh, and you'll have to take the actuall switch off the end of the looms to feed the wires, it's a VERY tight fit back there...
