Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have an '05 C4S and when pressing the switch for the sunroof, it broke loose and moved up into the plastic console above the rear view mirror, that houses that switch, IR sensors and overhead lights. Does any one know where any attachment clips or fasteners that hold that assembly up against the alcantara? I don't want to pry the edges and force it down, breaking any attachment points. I need to get it loose so i csn get at the switch that broke loose so i can reattach it, glue or orherwise refasten.

This could help. https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...DY-Sunroof.htm

POST 3Original post

Mine did that about a year ago. Remove the panel as done in this video. You Tube On my car, the little tab that hold the switch in place had broken, so I just super-glued it in place. It has held fine for the past year. Good luck.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks much! Sounds like exactly what my situation is. I'll follow the Pelican removal steps and get out the superglue! I'll update when completed.

Hi, I am tackling the sagging headliner in my 2002 XKR coupe. I am removing the headliner myself and getting an upholstery shop to do the difficult bit with the re-covering. With the removal so far, I have got to the point of removing the roof console. I know it is held in place by 3 clips and I need to pop off the rear one first but I can't work out how to get the clip off the headliner. I don't want to damage the headliner base or the roof console so I am going carefully. Has anyone got a close up photo of the clip so I can see how to pop it off? Is it the same for the 2 clips towards the middle of the console? Does anyone have any tips on getting the console off without breaking anything? Any help is much appreciated.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Two glue my sunroof switch back in place after it broke free and pushed up, i had ended up just taking out the two screws accessible under the red IR lenses (which popped out easily). Then worked around the edges, pulling down until it popped free. One of the forward clips broke off, but the other three remained in tact. The two forward ones were pretty far in from the edge of the console plate and I don't know how I could have contacted them to work them loose. It looked to me after it came off that getting a plastic pry tool under as far as possible might have helped. Bottom line, I had three of the four intact and really when I reinstalled the two screws under the sensors, it held tightly. Sorry I should have taken a pic of the underside while I had it off.

Just took mine apart this past weekend. Same issue with the switch. Then I realized my super glue had solidified. Still easy to take apart next time.

To re-glue my sunroof switch back in place after it broke free and pushed up, I removed the two screws under the red IR lenses (which popped out easily). I then worked around the edges, pulling down until it popped free. One of the forward clips broke off, but the other three stayed intact. The two forward ones were deep inside, and I’m not sure how I could have loosened them. It seemed to me that using a plastic pry tool might have helped. In the end, with three clips intact and the screws under the sensors reinstalled, it held tightly. Sorry, I should have taken a pic of the underside while it was off.

POST 9Original post

To reattach my sunroof switch, I first removed the two screws under the red IR lenses, which came off easily. Then, I carefully pulled around the edges until the panel popped free. One of the front clips broke off, but the other three remained intact. The two front clips were set deep, making them tricky to loosen. A plastic pry tool might have made the process smoother. Despite the broken clip, reinstalling the screws kept everything secure. The panel now sits tightly in place without any noticeable issues. I should have taken a picture of the underside while it was removed. Next time, I'll use a pry tool to avoid breaking any clips. Overall, the repair was successful, and the switch is firmly held.
