Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that contain suggestions

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Ill dig them out in the garage, its spring cleaning time anyway.
Leading evidence: 'Clean time anyway' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean time anyway' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a Euro spec cat that I would hope to bring back to the US when my tour here is over. I am wondering if I would/could get away with just double-sided tape the bumperettes to my rear bumper to pass at least a cursory inspection...
What year and what state are you registering in? Makes a big difference for inspection. Just a thought, I doubt that missing bumperettes would be noticed, especially if the car didn't come with them in the first and there are no empty brackets hanging down.
Not sure of your cars age,,, but....
Imported Vehicle Safety Compliance Act of 1988 (IVSCA)
exempts non-conforming foreign motor vehicles that are 25 years old or older .
jfyi...
Car Age goes by the manufacture date, not model year.
Nope, even if I return CONUS at the very last possible date (June 2028), the car will only be 24.
Gettig the certificate of compliance should be somewhat doable since the NHTSA has already deemed these substantially compliant

There are hundreds of US spec rear bumpers in the junk yards if u have to swap it for the feds. All mk1 or mk2 narrow bodies were the same for their respctive series.
2004 C4S here. Bumperette delete done in my garage. Zero questions asked when it goes to annual inspection.
I have my old bumperettes Id gladly give you if you feel like you need them.
Yes to both. Hmmm, well, yes to first, and no, I don't mind paying for shipping of course
PM me the pertinent details (I tried PM'ing you but not sure my post count is high enough?). Thanks again
