Mine came with an old Alpine double DIN fitted which I swapped out for the pioneer SPH-DA160DAB but the opening in the original double din fascia is too small (the screen sits behind it rather than in it like yours) Then the one that came with the new unit fits round the screen correctly but leaves a gap at the top of the factory opening, where yours has the extra width.

I can see from the posts that there are some good options for replacing my unit.

These units are great and I would buy another tomorrow like a shot BUT you need steering wheel controls because changing volume on a touch screen is not the easiest thing.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi fellow owners. I'm new to the forum having just purchased an 04 C4S in cobalt blue.
I need to upgrade the stereo and have purchased an Alpine 705 (didn't want the PCCM plus due to a number of factors - I hope I do not regret this)
I have a couple of questions on the install options and I'd be really interested to get your views on them.
So, I already have the PCM 2, so double DIN. Whilst it is not BOSE, it does have the amp by the spare tyre and this has MOST/fibre.
So, options are to get a convertor to use the existing AMP, circa £200 ish. or replace the amp with something else.
I don't want to spend a fortune as I know that the speakers aren't brilliant so I'd be really interested to hear what thoughts, ideas, products, advise you may have.
Thanks so much in advance and I hope this thread helps others who may also be looking at this.
The very cheapest option that works (assuming no sub) is to pull the plug on the amp and get a connects 2 cable with the same plug and then wire to have the door and dash in series and the rears as rears. Connected to the speaker outs on your new head unit. PM me if you want pictures and wiring diagrams - I have it all in a multi tab spreadsheet and have done several for friends.
What head units do people buy these days?
Must be some minimal choices now that CD and DVD players are more or less redundant. But I'd like Android Auto and front/rear cams
I have a cheap Xtrons unit that was £150. Has DAB, 3 USBs, Android based so can download any app you want. Can fit cameras, tyre pressure sensors, does the lot.
Mine is same as this, now £175:

Looks like this:
kenwood 8019.
very easy to use and has wireless carplay etc so no cables needed to connect to your phone of choice.
been absolutely solid last 2 years since fitted. So much better than original.
I had fitted the Pioneer Apple Car Play system (Android too)
SPH-DA250DAB
I have six speakers in my cab so needed an amp too so a 500w Pioneer amp.
Pioneer GM-A3702 500w
All works brilliantly and fits with the interiorwith orange button lighting.
+1 for the android unit. I have the original interface and wireless CarPlay.
It comes with the connectors so it would, in fact, be cheaper to buy the unit from aliexpress and just keep the wires.
The picture above is of a custom screen; there are a number of user interfaces you can choose and customise to your tastes - layout, colours, icons etc.

If you have a 997 you can order a unit with the bezel to match the shape of the PCM as well. Even has a Porsche logo as a boot screen.
Rennlist has a massive thread on them - including the ups and downs.
Where did you get the fascia surround? Mine came with an old Alpine double DIN fitted which I swapped out for the pioneer SPH-DA160DAB but the opening in the original double din fascia is too small (the screen sits behind it rather than in it like yours) Then the one that came with the new unit fits round the screen correctly but leaves a gap at the top of the factory opening, where yours has the extra width.
I'd love to say it was my excellent sourcing skills but unfortunately it wasn't, I had an audio specialist do it so he probably just sourced the surround but I couldn't say whether it was sourced individually or came with the unit.
Hello, I have just bought a C2. It has a Parrot double din unit that's now not supported from an app perspective. I can see from the posts that there are some good options for replacing my unit. But in the pics no one has the cup holders. Do you have to ditch the cup holders for these units? Many thanks.
