I can't believe that Porsche could have used same connectors for these both applications!!!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi there, I'm restoring an old lady, '98 996 C2, 3.4L manual gearbox. Problem is: dashboard does not light on ( no rpm, no temp, no oil preasure; nothing!) when I'm switching on the car! Engine start and run properly! only the cluster seems in cause... The only way to make it started properly: remove B1 fuse; close and re-open the car and switch it on! Then, the cluster starts properly with all displays/meters working properly as well. Similar trick is to disconnect the battery and switch it on after few second. Each time, clock and partial odometer are resetted. Any idea? Thanks,

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, problem is fixed, but I totaly ingnore why!!! As we had other wiring problem, we have reconnect things after things... In final, cluster "felt down in order"!!!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Some news about this car. In final, the cluster was faulty! spoiler was not driven properly! OK to extend not to retract!! In fact we had a "final" surprise with this car!!! Engine fan was starting over 75C!!! When temp was reaching 80C also the red light temp was blinking!!! PIWIS indicated similar temp for engine and engine compartment, which is totaly impossible!!! The joke was the following: Previous guys working on this engine have inverted 2 connectors on the engine: - Engine ambiant temp probe - Row 2 knocking sensor So, I have inverted both connectors again and all come back to normal working... I can't believe that Porsche could have used same connectors for these both applications!!! just crazy! Hope this will help others, having similar symptoms
