Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Re:- Removing Gen1 headlight outer lens Hi All Help needed please... I notices from another thread a few people have fitted the retrofit lab xenon conversion kit.. I'm having an issue removing the outer (gen 1) lens covers ( I'm using a heat gun) in order to fit the relevant new parts.. Can anyone give me any tips as my concern is I damage/break it trying to force it apart Thanks Johnny

POST 2Original post

I've seen youtube clips where folk put them in the oven and heat them up. Personally I'd be having a go at soaking in hot water for a while.

POST 3Original post

Stick them in an oven, or make your own temporary "oven" as they do in the Retrofit lab videos by using a cardboard box and heat gun. The stuff they use to bond the lenses on looks pretty nasty/sticky, you may need to heat the headlamp assembly up 2 or 3 times to get the lenses off.

POST 4Original post

I've done it on my 997, converting the lens internally on one side from LHD to RHD. I used the technique in this video to help me: https://youtu.be/y6zaUKArkUs I also reckon its the best way to properly remove condensation, when they won't clear themselves. You can replace the wicking device on these to keep them dry after you've cleaned them thoroughly. Just don't use pure alcohol on the silver reflective surfaces when cleaning them though!!
