Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

I imagine all car companies start with the hope that the fully open position is OK for noise / buffetting - but adjust the actual open position during testing to minimise noise etc.

But you could use the open / close switch to open it "fully" by holding it down - at which point the air in the cabin resonated to the point your ears would hurt.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As I am driving the most perfect car there is. I have to try and find a fault. So while stuck in traffic on the way home from work, with the Bose system playing nicely, the air con on, and the roof 'wide open, I had a concern. I have a 2002 Targa, and when the roof is open all the way (until it stops), does it indeed go back as far as it should or does it stop prematurely? It looks like it should go back further.

POST 2Original post

Hi, Will check mine but fairly sure it is the same.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. It just seems that it doesn't go fully back, and that the 'bulge' in the back edge is right in the line of sight of the rear view mirror. Msaybe if it went back further it would cause buffeting etc?

POST 4Original post

Looks the same as my 2004 Targa Rear view in mirror is just about useless as it is looking through 2 layers of glass, with internal reflections, but saves having to dip the mirror at night

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheers, Didn't fancy looking into fxing the Targa roof, it looks a bit of a beast!

POST 6Original post

My rear window is tinted so when I have the roof down I cannot see a thing out of the rear! Motor went bang on my roof, £2K bill [ ]

POST 7Original post

As suggested by Davey, it probably doesn't go right back because it would increase the noise / buffetting. I used to have a 3 series BMW & the standard position for the open sunroof was very quiet. But you could use the open / close switch to open it "fully" by holding it down - at which point the air in the cabin resonated to the point your ears would hurt. I imagine all car companies start with the hope that the fully open position is OK for noise / buffetting - but adjust the actual open position during testing to minimise noise etc. Paul 2004 C2 40th Anniversary
