Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Oh and I think we stuck the tape onto the skirt then fitted the skirt back on with the screws so it was located properly.

Clips fitted underneath to the sill joint (with the floor pan) and then screws go through the skirts up into the clips.

Suggestion
You could try with them on by flexing them out over but you may crack them and I think you'd struggle to get the old sticky stuff cleaned off.

I was speaking with a local body shop in the past & they recommended a Sikaflex product to ensure the skirts were bonded properly.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Afternoon all.
Haven't been near the car since before Christmas but since the weather was nice and bright went out primarily to get a slow puncture sorted ( but that's another story) and noticed the drivers side skirt was slightly off.
Is this a couple of broken clips or a glued on piece?
Cheers Ray
They are just double sided taped on along that top edge. Clips fitted underneath to the sill joint (with the floor pan) and then screws go through the skirts up into the clips.
You'll have to remove them fully and renew the tape. They are a *****! As they seem to want to pop off as they get older and there's sometimes quite a bit of pressure there.
Best tape I've used is the clear Gorilla double sided tape. Very good.
Mine didn't have the Adidas Samba mod though? With those stuck on does it get any extra downforce?
 :thumb:
As for the skirts, it's self explanatory once you get them off. You could try with them on by flexing them out over but you may crack them and I think you'd struggle to get the old sticky stuff cleaned off.
Good luck. It's not hard, just a bit fiddly.
Oh and I think we stuck the tape onto the skirt then fitted the skirt back on with the screws so it was located properly. Then peel the backing off the double sided tape whilst pressing the skirt on. This ensures correct positioning.
Glad I'm not the only one with the issue! Depressing isn't it !
I have bought the side skirt fixing kit which comprises of new steel runners, screws and clips. Definately a job for the warmer weather!

I was speaking with a local body shop in the past & they recommended a Sikaflex product to ensure the skirts were bonded properly. My car aero-kitted 996 hasn't had any paintwork (yet) so I can't comment further on the suggestion.
In theory it's the perfect solution, but in practice not so much.
Sikaflex is awesome stuff, but once you've bonded something on with it, it will be almost impossible to remove it intact.
Fine if you never need to remove it, but if for some reason you do, you'll most likely damage it removing it, and then have to buy a new sill extension to replace it.
