Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys, I've previously change the seat belts on my 2003 c2, which had an electric plug (airbag).... I've just remove my belts on my 2001 Turbo and there is no electrical plug. This is presumably a Face-lift charge? My question is, I have a purchased a set of OEM yellow belts which have an electrical plug on them, will these still fit? Thanks In advance [/i]

POST 2Original post

I'm not quite sure i understand the question .. if you don't have an electrical plug on your car and the new belts do they should still fit but without being plugged in . The electrical part is to tension the seat belt in the event of an accident .. if your car doesn't have this then obviously it wont . I very much doubt anything other than this is different as the body fixings are pretty generic for these cars .

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks pal, yeah couldn't see anything online, I believe the housing is the same so think I can just go like for like... I will update once I've fitted 👍

POST 4Original post

A quick search suggests a change on the '02 production 996TT which had siginificant "B" pillar reinforcements down. There is additional tubing and reinforcement for seat side protection. The reinforcement helps the seat belt retractor area and door stricker area. There is probably 15lbs of extra steel in this area. The B-post has been modified to take the new belt tensioner and belt-force limiter. I guess this explains the lack of the pyrotechnic seatbelt pretensioner on the '01. The later belt should still work fine though. Not sure I'd fancy removing the airbag on this one though.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, great information, guess there's only one way to find out. Airbag shouldn't be an issue as there is currently no plug for one and the new one just won't get connected.👍
