I bought one of those in 2004, 'used.' The car was supplied by Guildford OPC to its first owner.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I’m half considering changing a couple of cars around this spring as I’m still not getting on with my 911 as a daily.
Has anyone got an idea how much longer they will build the 992.1 GT3 RS? I had toyed with the idea of going down the Ferrari route, but they are too mileage sensitive and I don’t want to live with mileage anxiety. Obviously if it’s still an option, finding an allocation will be the next challenge, however as that market seems to be cooling off I might get lucky, you never know. Any advice much appreciated.
Herewith the registration numbers for the 991.1 GT3RS, 991.2 GT3RS and the first year of the 992.1 GT3RS ... the next chart shows the additional cars (in the total change) registered in the first half of 2024 ... there are no figures yet for the second half, and we know that Porsche are still delivering cars.
They usually manufacture in years and the years run to the summer shut-down in August ....
The 992.2 GT3 is only just out, the RS generally comes a year or so later ... but there is usually a gap ...
Take a look at How Many Left if you want to analyse this further ???
The rest is luck and working the OPC network, but the cheapest secondhand car in the market is now listed at around £30k over (at High Wycombe ?)... and there are a lot for sale so ??

Definitely try asking around.
From what I’ve heard OPCs will still try the ‘ No chance but if you buy a Taycan we will probably able to help you line’… and then an allocation will miraculously materialise.
Failing that, there are loads around and you can probably get a deal.

They must be running out of time using the line if you buy a new Taycan we can magically get you a RS allocation.
Their only aim is to maximise revenue per customer.
So they will try it and there will always be someone that will bite.
Plus they kind of have to these days due to carbon fleet mandates which restrict how many exhaust emissions cars a manufacturer can sell/import vs EV as a ratio. They get penalised 15k per unit over their quota.

Could this be a reason why, despite the number of unsold 992.1 GT3RS cars in the market, OPC's and specialist dealers with stock are trying to hang-on to any premium ?
How about a Macan Ev + 992.1 GT3RS package ?? With both built to spec ???

Possibly as they’ll know, Overs will still work out cheaper that the loss you’d take on having to take an EV in order to wangle your ‘factory order’ slot.
Its seems that mainly, if you’d
really
like a factory slot… they’ll want to make you pay for it… either via previous purchases or taking something else alongside it.

I’m half considering changing a couple of cars around this spring as I’m still not getting on with my 911 as a daily. If there is any allocations, think the chances are very low I could be tempted at looking at a GT3 RS and buying another SVR as my daily.
The wife isn’t keen on the spoiler one bit though, “you’d look ridiculous in that” were her words

Yes Bonus there

Exactly this, bought a Taycan and a GT4RS slot appeared
I think you'll struggle to get a new GT3RS slot without an extensive buying history, or you are willing to take a bath on multiple purchases in quick succession to get a build, it won't be just a single car believe me. Even the usual YT "influencers" struggle to get a slot Mark McCann did quite a lengthy video on his experience trying to get a "potential" allocation. I think he had to buy 3 new Taycan Turbos from memory.
GT4RS is slightly different, there are stock cars on AT right now at or under list.
On Autotrader ... 10 cars with less than 100 miles on them, 7 with less than 500 miles on them ... and another 10 or so with mileages less than 5000 .
With OPC's ... 5 cars less than 100 miles, 3 with less than 500 miles ... and 7 with less than 5000.
What does that say ?

With OPCs - 7 for sale registered in the last 3 months, 5 alone in just the last 2 months. Clearly these cars are being allocated to the right people who the DPs knew would love and cherish them - oh, wait...

You need to buy one of them Chris and whack some proper miles on......
God I can’t wait for it to go back to how it was In 2005 when you could buy a 2 year old GT car for half the price of list

The amount of delivery mileage or less than 300 miles popping regularly for sale at OPCs and indies is….embarrassing.
Yet they don’t want to give allocations away, rather sell to loyal customers that don’t want it to buy it back or for them to flip it.
One indie even told me….”oh yes, this is coming straight from Porsche”.
Embarrassing.
Plus there’s 10 of 000s to shave off their advertised price, once you start being serious with OPCs.
The good thing is that the perceived value stays high and helps with reducing depreciation, relatively to its original list price.

I don't think you ever could ...
I paid £62k for this with 6000 miles on the clock in 2006 .... and sold my March 2005 reg 996 GT3 MkII for £54k ... and that was a car from Cyprus ...

Maybe there was a bit more love for the 3 back then.
Paid £65k for a 6Gt2 in 2005 with similar mileage - not quite half price but not far off its £115k new price tag

I bought one of those in 2004, 'used.' The car was supplied by Guildford OPC to its first owner. I bought it privately from him with under 150 miles on it and paid circa £15k less than what he paid a few months earlier. Flipping was not a thing back then as he lost almost 20% in a matter of a few months and I lost some more after circa 5000 miles.
Still the best RS product ever made? PS The blue ones were not faster!
But I do prefer the blue
Happy days. Notice the antenna on the top of mine, ... the story was that it had been specced with OPC Leeds to do the Gumball Rally and then didn't ... it had a "long range" radio ??
ChrisW. said:
But what year was your GT2 ? 2002 ? And £65k is nearer 60% than 50% ...
Ok I’ll retract my comment and enter the following;
God I can’t wait until you buy a two year, 4 month, 17 day 5 hour old Gt car for 56.5% of the original price of new
.
Piston heads: Being pedantic matters.

Ah yes, I didn't notice that. Not sure I'd have wanted to do a Gumball Rally in a 996RS though, not great on the road.

I'll agree three years and 60% in the current market ....

I'd actively avoid selling to that tw@t as well to be honest

IIRC mark ended up buying one for either around list or just above, he did a video whereby he had to buy 3 taycans at full wack (when you could get anywhere between £20 - £45k off depending on model) and then Crook Hartley said that he would end up wiping his mouth of approximately £70k to offload straight away*
Personally I was offered non PCCB car by an OPC in November 23 for £145k over. This was on the promise that it would get me on the ladder with them (despite owning every Gt2 variant bar 993 and 7rs) and I could then spec my own car a year later - I politely declined and thankfully I did as I would have ended losing at least 6 figures on that first car, knowing the OPC and other issues people have had with them, I’m guessing the second car probably wouldn’t have ever materialised either.
Dont quote me the figures as they may be wrong. it was a while ago I watched this video and happy to be corrected
