Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Been doing a few bits on the car and needed to take the drivers side exhaust box off. The long through bolt was seized in the spacer(one that attaches the box to the bracket where the brillo pad noise suppressors are situated) so drilled the head off to remove the box. Despite my best efforts at removal of the bolt from the stainless spacer, it is well and truly stuck. I think the bolt has rusted and swelled. Quick google of the spacer brings up official parts ranging from £24 to £32 - for a bit of stainless tube! Measured it up - 12mm dia with 1.5mm wall thickness stainless tube. £6.24 incl delivery for 240mm from ebay which is enough to do both spacers on one box.

POST 2Original post

I used 12mm OD 1mm wall. But yes, much cheaper. Same goes for the bolts. Stainless bolts and washer for a few ££ MC

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

On a related matter - the Dansk exhaust tip clamps that attach the tip elbow to the exhaust box dont fit on the boxes I have (stainless aftermarket ones with rigid pipes in and out). The flange on the box is too big for the Dansk collar (ooo errrr Missus!!). Had to go OEM at £52 a pair!
