Just to let you know - removing the seatbelt will trigger your air-bag warning light, so this will have to be reset once you've fitted the new belt (thanks deMort!)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I need a new drivers seatbelt for my 2003 C4S coupe. I'm getting a bit confused. I think the 996 part has been superseded by a 997 part but the only ones I can find have US markings. Is there any difference between US and UK seatbelts? Part no I found 99780303413A23 Is this right or am I being a muppet?

POST 2Original post

Is it just the webbing that you need to replace? If so have just had mine re-webbed (in red!) by Safety Belt Services, was £140 for both and next day turnaround. I think they also do repairs therefore if it's the mechanism that's broken they may be able to repair it. I first looked at OEM Porsche belts but they're c.£550 each!!!

POST 3Original post

If it is just not retracting properly, clean it with a dilute bio washing liquid and rinse thoroughly. Allow to dry before retracting (use a clothes peg, klip-it or similar to keep it extended) and a light spray of silicone aerosol will sort it. If it is frayed or cut, replace of course.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the feedback guys but I need a new unit hence the part no. help.

POST 5Original post

I did some searching and yes it seems its updated to a 997 part number ... the trouble is i got a different number than you .. logically your number is correct .. I think if it was me .. I would phone an opc parts dept .. give them the chassis number of your car and ask for a price and availability .. after that ask for the part number .. That way you have the part number and the cost as sometimes third party suppliers can actually be more expensive than the OPC,s .

POST 6Original post

Ok good luck with the hunt, just make sure to be sitting down when OPC tell you the price!! Just to let you know - removing the seatbelt will trigger your air-bag warning light, so this will have to be reset once you've fitted the new belt (thanks deMort!)

POST 7Original post

Over £500 even if they give you 10% (most will). Another option could be a trusted breaker, although with safety....

POST 8Original post

Or you could always ring 9 Apart and get a good second hand one.

POST 9Original post

Or Status Porsche, or Douglas Valley Breakers (Steve Strange).

POST 10Original post

If you phone the OPC they will look up the correct part number .. once you have that you can source the part from where ever you wish . As both you and me have struggled to find the correct number then i feel this is the best course of action to take ... if only to be safe . If you disconnect the battery before replacing the seat belt then you won't have an airbag light issue ... to be honest .. if working on an airbag system you should always disconnect the battery first.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just wanted to close this off for anyone who finds it later. It seems the part listed earlier in the thread (99780303 413 A23) is for use with a child seat or for sale in the US. I believe it is compatible but longer. The correct part no.(via OPC and chassis no.) for my 2003 C4S coupe was 99780303 410 A23, it is an updated 997 part but appears almost identical to the original. It cost approx. half of what the OPC quoted and figures quoted earlier in this thread from RosePassion. All fitted now and no dashboard lights.(I did disconnect the battery before I started.) I had to fit a new OEM belt to get the car certified in NZ as the factory airbag had been removed to fit the Momo steering wheel. Finished for now, Natural brown leather, GT3 delete, Double din to single conversion and Mono wheel. I'm very happy with how it turned out.
