Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Set fire' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace then seal it' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
I kinda feel that as this valve is so rarely replaced then seal it with bitumen and see if the leak stops .

Suggestion
The fix for this is the bitumen underseal and trowel it into this area creating a separate base that water will run off from .
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yet again, its leaking :frustrated:
After sorting out the one through the heater and the one above the drivers plate, now another one..... this time through the foam of the air con I think, its dripping down by the red arrow.
Anyone got a simple fix before I set fire to it?
First off don't set fire to it ..
Im unsure but is this the n/s or the o/s ?
Could the leak be slightly lower ?
I've started to see the actual bulkhead panel leak on Boxsters and early 996 .. if you look from the bonnet side next to the battery and each side you can see its a separate panel .. the sealant on this is starting to let go and causes a tiny leak which over time ends up with wet carpets .
The fix for this is the bitumen underseal and trowel it into this area creating a separate base that water will run off from .
Anyways if possible take a picture from a bit further back so i get a better idea .. i'm always a phone call away if needed to save you burning the car though !
Just a thought but there is a foam covering on the n/s that seals the pollen filter housing .. might be this if that side .
Thanks Demort, this is leak number 4 .
1. Through cabin filter - fixed
2. The seal you mention around the pressed steel plate, drivers side, fixed with loads of sealant
3. Same as 2 but passenger side.
4. This one seems to come from the foam seal around the air con rad, arrowed, where it passes through into the cabin.
I will have a look tomorrow with a hose and with an endscope as I can't see the top of the seal on the inside..
Aghh okies .. i see now ..
Ok then i know what you mean with the a/c expansion valve .. what i will say is i've done rather a lot of water leaks over the years and if it is that then it's a new one on me ..
I have seen the bulkhead panel .. so about an inch below this valve leak .. that can be fixed with thick underseal as i mentioned ..
Technically water can't really sit around the expansion valve but i'm not going to say it isn't this as i cant see the car .. if it is this then i will certainly add it to my repertoire of leak areas but please check it's definitely not the panel below this .

I basically trowel the stuff in and leave to dry .
the stuff im talking about is basically this ..

Forget silicone .. use this stuff on the outside of the bulkhead panel both sides .. you trowel it in place and shape it .. leave for a few hrs then reshape it .. its messy .. certainly .. but very effective .
