Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am thinking of buying this car, yet to view. Can i easily remove the rear ghastly spoiler to take this lid back to factory spec.? Or would i need to source another like the ghastly bumpers. Thanks IMG-20211226-WA0004 by stretch1985 , on Flickr

POST 2Original post

Even at the worst, second hand deck lids are not stupidly expensive, as people swapping to static duck tail spoilers often sell them on minus the fan. I paid about £350 delivered for a silver one with spoiler drive and wiring etc intact. Not a difficult swap, 4 bolts and a wiring harness connector, plus the fan usually.

POST 3Original post

I removed the fixed rear aero spoiler on my 996.2 and fitted a retractable spoiler. If it is a genuine spoiler it would be worth holding into to re-fit or have it available for the next owner. Perhaps sell it as I did. Mine was part of a factory pack which included side skirts. If it's genuine it can be quite sought after.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the reply guy's. I wouldn't know if it was genuine or not. New to these 996 cars.

POST 5Original post

The original one has the Porsche part number on the underside, they usually start with a 996 unless it was a carryover part from a previous generation. My one had 996 512 903 00 EP GM25 made in Switzerland stamped on it.

POST 6Original post

deck lid They are very easy to swap over. I did both of mine on my 996s. make sure you have the harness intact.
