Just for fun, I re-checked the bed in procedure which is fairly prominent on the EBC website.
Leading evidence: 'Check bed in procedure' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check bed in procedure' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. I ran EBC Bluestuff (not the road legal ones) for a while in the other car, and they were OK, but I've reverted to Carbotech XP8s at the front, with AX6 at the rear (as FWD).

I had exactly the same issue, and a change of pads to Pagid rs cured it, but at the expense of brake squeal.

Suggestion
On the 997 I'd run the same front and back, but I've got Pagid RS29 all round instead, and they're excellent, and both discs and pads have held up to trackwork really well.

Suggestion
If I did it again I would consider a less extreme pad set due to the squeal.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had exactly the same issue, and a change of pads to Pagid rs cured it, but at the expense of brake squeal.
Hi all,
Went to the PCGB trackday at Goodwood last weekend.
Was a fun day but had some issues with my brakes.
Here were the symptoms:
- After a few laps i would get strong brake judder through the steering wheel
- Afer a cool down lap or cool down between stints it would mostly go away. I say mostly as even with cool brakes there was a little bit of it. Felt it less on very strong brake application
- After the track day on the way home no more judder at all
Brake pads are EBC blue stuff that i installed earlier this year and it was their first track day (though i've done over 1000 miles road use). I didn't experience this with Brembo HP2000 previously.
Any thought on how to fix the issue? Is it likely to be dics, pads, both?
I think i'll be moving to Pagid RS19 pads at some point as they sounds to be the best reviewed fro track days.
thanks!
Here's a little video of me learning the track in the morning:

Thanks Rob.
Any chance that it's heat spots on the discs that are making them un-even?
Reason I ask is after cooldown, with no braking, the judder goes away. If there was un-even pad transfer due to heat, wouldn't you need to 'scrape it off' first with some hard braking before the judder goes?
(Also - they are supposed to be road legal race pads..)
thanks
james
I just had exactly the same thing at my first track day, and funnily enough o was at Goodwood too. It's quite unnerving to fee that's much judder (it was A LOT) when you're travelling at sped.
Did anyone get to the bottom of the cause?
I had exactly the same issue, and a change of pads to Pagid rs cured it, but at the expense of brake squeal. If I did it again I would consider a less extreme pad set due to the squeal. (I know people will come along saying if you bed them in properly they won't squeal etc, but reality is within 50mlies of road use they do it again. And I did bed them in properly a few times! And use anti squeal paste etc) I now use them only on track.
Sounds like the pads will have mated to the discs ok after the 50 road miles but will not have been heat cycled - track pads need bedding in properly with some extreme heat cycles. This is a black-art but the general consensus is to find a quiet A-road late at night and do a few (say 4) repeated hard stops from say 80mph down to 20mph (obviously it doesn't need to be precise). But don't fully stop and after the last one drive for say 10 minutes to let them cool down without touching the brakes again.
Sometimes track pads glaze over from road use and this is the routine to bed them in again. May be worth you trying this regardless with your old pads, but definitely if you upgrade further.
Apologies, I should have made in my post more clear that I bed them in properly before any road miles ( per Pagid rs guideines, repeated hard stops from high mph within the specified times). I am very familiar with the process and have done it numerous time with other track cars too. My point is that they quieten but after some road miles they squeal again and you have to do the bedding in process again. I don't want to detract from the op original question though, I wanted to highlight that if he goes for new pads make sure to do some research before committing to an expensive solution.

Just for fun, I re-checked the bed in procedure which is fairly prominent on the EBC website. It seems that if you haven't done an extra "fade 2" cycle at the track before driving you're not following the instructions:
