Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi This morning I was iced in and so the windows would not drop. However after so de-icer and time, the dropped when the door handle was raised. the closed fine and I went on my way. However I noticed that when I opened the door again the window dropped, so I opened the door, but went back up when the door was open, this stopping me from closing it without damage. I therefore opened the window a little, closed the door and from the passenger side raised the window. Any suggestions as to what this may be? Does it sound like something needs replacing or just resetting? Any help appreciated Cheers Dazz

POST 2Original post

Probably a dodgy (or sticky) microswitch in the door lock assembly. There are 5 switches in the lock assembly, one of which tells the system that the door is open. A diagnostic check would confirm it.

POST 3Original post

It may be the microswitch as Richard suggests, but it might also be that the window is confused about where it should be when. With the door shut, if you wind it all the way down and all the way up a couple of times, it re-learns where it should be when - this has worked for me a couple of times.
