I fitted standard M029 shockers, which made the rice a little less harsh, but maintained the ride height and roll stiffness of the M030.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Absolute tosh, I collected and fitted mine from OPC this week this is how it came: x2 bilstein front canisters / shocks, 2x bilstein rear, 2x rear bump stops, 1x front ARB, 1x rear ARB, 2x front ARB bushes, 2x rear ARB bushes, 4x -15mm springs

POST 3Original post

Phil Here is what should come in the kit: Parts shown with a * are superceded by later part numbers.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Same cost as yours, the parts chap is having a laugh.

POST 5Original post

Thanks for both your help, I am so cross about this, I've waited since February have the car booked in for Monday as I am wanting to get it fitted before Classic Lemans and now they tell me they have to put a ticket in to Porsche which is an email system and wait to hear back from them. Surly this is not the service I should be getting. I will update you as and when I know more. Cheers Phil

POST 6Original post

I had a call yesterday form my OPC to say that the sports kit I ordered has arrived which was pleasing news! However I when I went to collect the kit I noticed it was missing the shocks, my OPC said this is how the kit comes?? Now I'm not that worried as people have said that the standard shocks with the sports springs are better for road use but I'm not sure if what I paying for is correct the parts are as follows. P000 044 500 08 retrofit kit sp P900 380 012 01 01 hexagon nut X 4 The kit comes with springs and anti roll bars and the total cost is a £584.29 inc vat and 10 % discount. I have it booked in to be fitted on Monday but would like some advice if this looks correct or if I should have the shocks as well. Thanks Phil

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That doesn't sound too good at all. I am too, as if you hadn't of questioned it you could have easily been taken for a ride, if they look up the kit in PET as Richard did, they could see what it comes with instead of fobbing you off. I mean, that said, the kit is exception value, one sports shock alone is over £300 if ordered separate to the kit (makes me wonder how they can do it for this price, it must be pretty much cost), but you haven't got what you have ordered. Thankfully the OPC parts department and center as a whole is very good in Swindon and I am on good terms with many of them, so I would expect to have a chat with them and have it sorted relatively quickly. That said, it's a non-stock item, so shipping of the additional parts will be required. That doesn't help you however in your current situation, so if I were in your shoes I would be down there raising a complaint in person, what with the time you have waited already, and the inconvenience of having to reschedule your car. Add to that the fact that they are trying to short change you! I would also take the kit back, request a refund and refuse the kit until it is given to you complete. Hope you get it sorted soon!

POST 8Original post

I think they don't know what they are talking about, and not trying to rip me off. I've just had a call from my OPC saying they are aware now that there is a mistake, and are in touch with Porsche to see how quick they can get a replacment system and will get it delivered to my door if need be. I just pray it's early next week otherwise I won't have it fitted and settled before Classic Lemans. Thanks Richard and Steve for your help as I sent it all this over to my OPC and i think they were surprised the detail I gave them. Phil

POST 10Original post

How does yours drive with it fitted Steve are you pleased ?

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It drove out of the garage fine lol I've actually changed the number plate, so sadly I am waiting for my tax disc and new plates to be made up so it currently is not road legal A bit of a pain as I want to see what it has done to the car. Still, gives me something to look forward to I kept the -25/30mm springs I purchased not so long ago on the new set up, so it sits slightly lower and will be a bit stiffer again, but we will see how it goes. When fitting I noticed the shaft of the shock had the best part of two inches less travel than the originals! The front ARB is identical to the old standard one, but the rear has a lot more meat on it! Time will tell, I'll report back hopefully at the weekend if my paperwork arrives.

POST 12Original post

Update is that they had no reply from Germany however parts guy made contact and now the system is saying awaiting part to complete kit same as it had before, but he is going to make contact on Monday after speaking to his Manager to work out what they can do as its urgent. As a thought if they can't get the shocks as this is all I need would standard shocks work with this kit, I have a feeling Richard mentioned that he had standard shocks with m030 springs which worked well, I'm just trying to work out the best way round this, and to have a back up plan. Cheers Phil

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I would wait for the whole kit, even if you had a discount or partial refund I don't think it could be worth it. If you are on original shocks, they could last another few years or few months, who knows, then you could be back to square one? I guess what I am saying is, if you are going through the trouble of having it off and replacing things, it may as well all be done at the same time. I had -25mm springs on standard shocks, which was fine until one started leaking. Cheers,

POST 14Original post

I won't run it on the old shocks get new ones, if they have a problem with getting the sports ones, but make sure the cost is the same if not less for my wasted time. I just wanted to see if this works well or not.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

standard shocks and sports springs can work well.

POST 16Original post

That's good to hear. Anyone else run standard shocks with m030 springs ? Nice to get some thoughts. Phil

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know Richard did for a while as he didn't want the harsher ride the firmer and shorter shocks offered.

POST 18Original post

That's what I thought, If this is the case Richard can you let me know what your thoughts are any draw backs by doing this ?

POST 19Original post

My C2 had factory M030 when I bought it. I found the ride a bit too firm for me, bearing in mind that the road surfaces in East Berks and South Bucks (one of the most expensive areas in the country) are absolutely dreadful. I fitted standard M029 shockers, which made the rice a little less harsh, but maintained the ride height and roll stiffness of the M030. For me, it was a reasonable compromise, but if I was living in Wales, I wouldn't have thought about it for a second. The few people who drove the car (who knew what they were doing) commented on how good it felt. It retained all the sharpness of M030, but the ride was just that bit more compliant. It might also be an age thing. To be honest, in the end it was the firmness of ride which led me to sell the Turbo - it was just getting to me more and more. I also found it embarrassing when I had passengers in the car. Had it been a weekend toy, it would have been different, but as a daily drive it was a bit too much for me. My Cayman has PASM, which is fantastic.

POST 20Original post

Thanks Richard, this is as I thought and maybe for me this is a good option, as the same for us the roads here are not the best. If they can get standard shocks quicker than sports version I will see if they will do them at the same price with all the hassel I have had. Cheers Phil

POST 21Original post

This is becoming hard work. Latest, after 3 days of chasing this around been told to take the kit back and a new one will be sent out but they don't have answers form Porsche when a new kit will arrive, the parts chap also mentioned only 1 x kit has been supplied this year in jan, which I corrected him buy mentioning a friend had received his kit last week so how can this be the case (hope Steve you don't mind me referring to you as a friend but thought it may help) The very frustrated parts manager is now looking into in more detail and will have an answer for me today. It appers with all the communication we have these days I still can't get answers easily, I would never give my clients this level of service. Phil

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sounds like a breakdown in communication and they aren't totally aware of the facts. I hope that you can get it sorted soon. And that is no problem at all, I am sure I have been referred to as much worse

POST 23Original post

Your kit Steve was for a C2 mine is a c4 that is why yours has come in mine should not have been sent through just been informed, the next question is when will I get a new kit, maybe I will wait another 3 days for an answer. Phil

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Phil, Hows things going with this? I just took my 996 for a test since fitting all new suspension and brakes etc and she drives fantastic! The ride isn't harsh at all, but then I do have after market progressively wound springs instead of the stock M030 setup. I've not had chance to try her around the twisties yet, just ran a few errands in her but it seems really good so far

POST 25Original post

I find it ok on mine, I just go very gently over sleeping policemen. also when you guys had yours fitted did you use the yellow hard plasticy/rubber things?

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yup I popped the new bump stops on the back to stop it from bashing the older bigger ones. Although, I rarely, if ever noticed it touching them even with -25mm springs. Cheers,

POST 27Original post

Steve Thanks for asking, I never got the parts in time for Classic Le mans which I returned from yesterday, what a great trip. My OPC said that they would have an up date over the situation which I should hear some news this week, they have taken the parts back but I have still paid for them as I hope to have the kit soon. Pretty fed up with the level of service received from Porsche, as the OPC just can't get answers on what's going on. I hope the wait will be worth it. Cheers Phil.

POST 28Original post

Dont suppose you could get a picture of how you have them?

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I hope it's sorted soon Phil. Chris, not sure I have a picture, I will check, but I just popped the old bump stops out and attached the dust cover to the new bump stops and popped them in place of the old ones.

POST 30 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Old ones not very visible in this one, but it's all I've got: : Old Vs new, quite a bit shorter: Here you can see the new one in the old ones place: Why do you ask?

POST 31Original post

Ok thanks, the only reason i ask is that when my local garage fitted mine he didnt use them, without checking i wouldnt know what he used. He might have reused the rear ones, but he said he used cossie ones on the front as they are the same size. Mine is just the m30 kit so only a 10mm drop iirc compared to your 30mm.

POST 32 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I only hit the old stock bump stops perhaps twice with the lower drop, and that was out in some country estate with crazy size speed bumps! It also took a small chunk out of the bottom of my front bumper paintwork though!
