Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I bought this stuff from design 911 for all 4 corners and had it fitted by a local garage (the guy owned a boxster, which gave me confidence) for 4hrs labour.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

my car is in for its MOT tomorrow and at its last service 3 months ago I was told the the front discs were corroded on the inside but were performing OK (the certainly did round The Ring the other week anyway :food: ). Anyhoo.......if the MOT flags up the brakes, should I go for the official Porsche product at £510 plus labour from JZ Machtech or the following from design911.co.uk at £199? 2 x Serbo Front Brake Cross Drilled Disc 1 x Textar Front Brake Pads set 2 x Brake wear sensors 4 x Brake Pad Damping Shims. Thats a huge different in price!!!!!! would you trust a non Porsche specialist to fit brakes cos I guess I can hardly turn up at JZ with my own parts :hand:

POST 2Original post

I bought this stuff from design 911 for all 4 corners and had it fitted by a local garage (the guy owned a boxster, which gave me confidence) for 4hrs labour. it is widely posted on here that the 'porsche' stuff is made by serbo/textar/brembo. I will happily keep replacing with serbo/textar/brembo as/when necessary. Also dont forget that the inside of your discs does tend to rust more than the other surfaces... but... as far as I can tell OPCs tell everyone that this is a problem and "oooh, if it was me i would want it sorted out". Of course they would, at their prices. Push them really hard and ask to speak to the mechanic who flagged it up and ask how bad it actually is. It might be (understatement) that there is some rust present, but its far from needing to be replaced.

POST 3Original post

Paul at the Porscheshop would do you a good deal. Regards Big Bob :bye:

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

car went in for its MOT on Saturday and it failed on inbalanced front brakes......the cause...over enthusiastic driving round the ring 3 weeks ago probably  Anyway, the garage quoted me £660 inc fitting for original Porsche discs and pads and after a bit of negotiation on my part I got them down to £600 fitted. Not too bad. I did ask them if they would fit parts I supplied but they went on about warranty this, insurance claim the other, blah blah. Car now well again...just need to bed those brakes in.
