Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all As above really - I am getting no more than 0.6 bar most of the time with my car, since the OPC carried out some repairs. I do occasionally see 0.7 bar, but mostly, it peaks through the gears at 0.6. Is this correct? Or is the car underboosting as I suspect? Thanks all JJ

POST 2Original post

i think 0.8 is the max for a std car, and thats MAX......so you wouldn't see it that often. does it feel slow? if you didn't have a gauge you wouldn't worry about it.

POST 3Original post

0.6 with the odd 0.7 is bang on for a standard turbo.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No turbo feels slow, but the boost being achieved appears lower than prior to some rectification works, but it is difficult to tell for sure. The problem is that the previous fault related to the car overboosting (achieving 1.2bar then backing off!). Prior to this fault, the car would peak and hold between 0.7 and 0.8 bar, which to my mind is the correct level for the car. I take your point about the gauge, but unless the gauges are known for being unreliable, I would have expected the car to achieve a minimum of 0.7 in most conditions. Thanks for input  Regards JJ

POST 5Original post

Is yours standard or an x50? 0.7/0.8 sounds more like the x50.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Dave Mine is the standard car. From what you say, the car is as it should be then. Good to know - just doesnt feel quite as nippy as she did prior to overboosting fault. JJ

POST 7Original post

James, I have a 2001 standards tt and I get 0.6 max, spikes to 0.7 and if I believe correctly I think I saw 0.8 one or two times. but from what you telling me sounds pretty much like mine. Hope it helps

POST 8Original post

James if you want more poke then get it remapped. On the turbo cars it makes a hell of a difference. Mine is now boosting to 1.0/1.1 although the gauge did show 1.4 this lunchtime momentarily when I came off the gas.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for all the input guys - good to know that it is correct. I have considered getting her remapped, but I wanted to be sure that she was correct before going any further. Saves me a bill from OPC asking them to check the boost if it is already correct though! Forums at ther finest   JJ
