Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys, 1st time post-er here! ;o) I have an issue with my 1999 996 that I've been trying to solve for quite a while. I'm not great at solving electrical problems, but maybe slightly better than the average guy is. However I need someone who is very good at this stuff. I think I have an easy issue, but need a wiring diagram for the '99 996, and CANT seem to find on anywhere (Google-d it, asked local Porsche mechanic (who's weeks back-logged) and can't get the needed help. I have a friend who i haven't seen in a while who can probably fix my problem.. he's asking me if I can get a wiring diagram for my 1999 996. Showing ANY information for the light wiring (signals etc...). If there's a diagram with OHMs etc... that will help him also. Does anyone have those sort of diagrams/info. they could post? I'm getting tired of looking at my car and not being able to fix my situation. I've tired everything. Now I'll leave it up to him to read the wire schematics and testing the OHMs etc... A BIG pre-thanks. ;o) Best, Nick

Before asking someone to post this, you need to understand that Porsche sees such information as intellectual property that is protected by their copyright; and that Porsche has had a history of coming down on websites for doing what you are asking for. That said, you can acquire a complete wiring diagram legitimately by picking up a copy of the Bentley 996 service manual.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I hear you. I was Google-ing a blinker wiring diagram for my 99 996 and couldn't find anything... I was amazed. As there is just about every other diagram for most 911's on Google. I did a search on this site and found other diagrams, so thought it wouldn't be hurt to ask. ;o) Just going out of my mind trying to figure out how to get my blinkers to work again. After replacing the Hazard switch (2X) and the turn signal relay, I figure there MUST be something else I am missing... even though that seems to cure everyone else's blinker problem. A friend of mine thought there might be something else "hide" in a wiring diagram of the car, that would be the culprit for MY problem. Arrrgh....
