Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello all,
I'm new to this site, and new to the Porsche scene, Im just looking into purchasing my first Porsche.
I'm keen on the 996, and have seen a few with the GT3 bodykit fitted and think they look smart.
However would I be pretending that it was a GT3?
A part of me compares it with having a BMW and putting M3 bodykit etc on it making it look like an M3.
Although a Porsche is a Porsche and even a standard 996 is a hell of a car, so putting a GT3 bodykit on it just makes it look even more sporty, or does it, not sure???
Would be interested to hear peoples opinions on this.
And if I could afford a real GT3 then of course I would just buy one.
Cheers
Tom
To answer your question visually, which of these 911s looks the best?
Obviously the 993 :wack:
sorry... now, which of the 996s looks sooooo much better than the other?
GT3 bodykit on a 996 :thumb: It's actually an option from Porsche anyway and can be retro fitted. It's not like a 3-series being made to look like an M3 (tho' I have seen attempts and laughed each time!). Go for it if you are thinking about it.

Hi Tom,
Welcome to the site. I have a 996 Carrera 4 with the GT3 body kit on it and so so pleased i bought it as it looks awesome, especially with from the side. I always wanted the kit on it and didnt look at anything else.
Maxie and Sundeep are absolutely right that this is a valid Porsche option and if anything should add some value as i have been told that a factory GT3 bodykit is a £6000
option!
I have now put the Fabspeed Muffler Bypass pipes on it and OMG sounds amazing, although at the moment i seem to be ruining everyone day as i drive passed and plus i cant hear the missus when she is in the car, although maybe that isnt a bad thing!!! LOL! Couldnt agree with Daniel more, DO NOT under any circumstances change the badge! :hand:
Go for it, and try and get the GT3 wheels as well as people always comment on mine!

GT3 bodykit
Thanks for the response's, I agree the 996 does look mega with the GT3 bodykit. Think my mind is made and ill be searching for one with the bodykit, but not with the badge of course.
Tom
i saw a battered MR2 this week with a chinese guy driving it....it had the obligatory fat exhaust, a porsche badge stuck on the bonnet and 911 decals and the turbo badge stuck on the back. I pi55ed myself laughing
sticking a GT3 badge on a C2 doesnt seem so bad after all
Hi
I have the 996 with the factory fit GT3 Aerokit... I would definitely recommend it. It looks great and often other porsche owners always comment as it sets it apart. The front bumper is a little low though so you have to be careful.
A GT3 badge is a big no no as then you would be pretending - but I would definitely say its all good! If you need pictures I will take some for you
Cheers
A few people have commented on how the aero kit breaks up the lines on a cabriolet and improves the aesthetics. I think the same can be said of a coupe but some colours suit it better than others.
A properly fitted GT3 kit will give you better handling on and off the track.
I've got the 'wings' on the rear bumper too which is the only part I'm not sure about from a looks POV.
