Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Modest by any standards and purely cosmetic. I have gone for Oval-tube sports tailpipes Even my wife thinks they look great, but then she doesn't know how much they cost.... I think they are worth it

POST 2Original post

Very nice indeed and I would do the same, if I could only get my head around the asking price for them. Got all 4 wheels re-furbished for the same money instead

POST 4Original post

Look great 8) are these the ones from design 911? or techquipment? just order the former my self but they havn't arrived yet - Simon

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

They are Tequipment. Are you fitting them yourself? Mine needed the clips replacing as they had corroded. I am convinced that they affect the sound - certainly no louder, just different. They are are about twice the diameter of the standard items but obviously only a few inches long so the potential should be small - I may be imagining it. A lot of money, but I am really happy with the look, not just bigger, but better shape, sharp edged rather than rolled edge and look great with the dark inside and polished chrome outside PSE next - quoted down to £2000 today by an OPC - not sure if this is a good price Karl

POST 6Original post

POST 7Original post

Think it was Notting OPC offering the £1500 PSE May be worth contacting them and seeing if they will still do something. On a n/a 996 PSE is an absolute must

POST 8Original post

Congratulations and welcome to the expensive and slipper modfictaions slope! :thumb: PSE, is the only way, but for a fraction of the cost you could do the 'hack'. Get a good used set of 3.6L back boxes (the 3.4 apparently don't sound so throaty) and have a competent welder weld a bi-pass pipe to it. Much cheaper than the PSE, have a look at ebay for one's already fabricated. Or you could find someone who's got a set of 3.6L boxes sat in the garage not doing anything and needing a good home  You'd have to source a welder but it's not a hard job and plenty of info on here and other sites.

POST 9Original post

Stuart, On your comment, do you know any Welders who can perform this mod to the stock back boxes? I need to get the muffler bypass pipes off so i can let my ears stop bleeding for a day or two and there is no way i am going back to stock!! Sadly, i cant afford the £2k PSE option and to be honest the £350 ish ones on ebay are a bit of a climb at the moment! Any suggestions would be great!

POST 10Original post

Any welder should be able to do this. I've never actually done this so couldn't recommend anyone, oh, hang on. I think Tognola Engineering in Datchet have done it http://www.tognolaengineering.com/ Maybe give them a call, never heard of anyone taking the pipe off though, is it really that loud? Are you setting car alarms off and making small children cry?

POST 11Original post

I had Hayward & Scott in Basildon do the modification on a set of 3.6 boxees for me. They have done a few now and they knew what they were doing. Drove in, swapped over, drove out - great service and very good price too. And they sound much better now!

POST 12Original post

Thanks Stuart. I actually contact Tognola Engineering a couple of months back and he replied saying that they dont modify muffflers, but can supply sport mufflers, which is a shame. He quoted me; Sport mufflers £572 + vat, fitting £120 + vat. Muffler bypass pipes, give an awesome sounds, especially when you go above 4000 rpm, but they are loud, but saying that i only use the car at the weekends and now the missus is getting used to them! RESULT!

POST 13Original post

Do you have any contact details for them? Also do you think i can take the boxes to them without them being on the car and then fit them myself?

POST 14Original post

Units 10 & 11 Nobel Square - Burnt Mills Industrial Estate - Basildon - Essex SS13 1LS Tel (0)1268 727256 - Fax (0)1268 590772 - Email [email removed] And yes, they are happy to mod boxes for you off the car if you prefer. Cheaper that way too but I wanted the simplicity of drive in - drive out. Speak to a chap called Ian who arranged to do mine (I actually had the boxes dropped off with them, they did the mod and then called me to go in for the fitting). Guy

POST 15Original post

Excellent! Def going to be calling them this afternoon, and will mentioned your recommendation! Can i ask how much am i roughly looking at for this mod with them? Thanks, Chris
