Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello everyone, I'm trying to install the sadocom / Ali Express radio unit (poor man PCM ) with carplay in my 02 996 Turbo with BOSE marked speakers. I'm new to radio stuff so I'm very slowly trying to learn, I removed the original PCM tryed to hook up the new unit but no life when I turn the key. On the new radio I have both Can Bus decoder and BOSE adapter, as the seller correctly sent me the bose version seeing the bose marks on speakers. 1) First of all It looks like the car does not have a fiber optic connection, although there are Bose marked speakers. 2) The 2 big connectors black and blue are supposed to be nav and tel. system so I should not need them right ? 3) the brown and black males that go into the big black female connector on the radio do not seem to have the same position for all of the connections...at least the black one. 4) There are 3 small cable, the biggest one should be the antenna... no idea what the other 2 are. 5) CAN BUS : I don't think the 996 system is Can Bus based...but how do I know ? I have another connector which I think is for a non bose system, may be I should use that one ? Thanks in advance ! PICS :

POST 2Original post

Just my 5 cents: MOST system was implemented on cars 2003 onwards, son a 2002 does not have optical fiber for audio connections (there are Bose system for MOST and no MOST cars). Could it be that you ordered the new radio for a MOST fiber car? Actually the can bus adapter clearly indicates for "04-2010 Porsche"

POST 3Original post

Even on a 2003, the CAN bus adapter does not work at all. So you don't need the bose fiber adapter nor the CAN bus adapter for your vehicle. You will need to study what was provided with the unit and adapt if necessary, to your car wiring harness. -Tom

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

All clear, thanks to both of you. The best part is that when I took the PCM out I found out that the previous owner had already added the Elektronic Idee Wireless circuit, so the PCM was already wireless ready. But I guess I have spent the money and I need Carplay now

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As it may be useful for future installations : I went through all the wirings and found out the AMP blue cable (wake up signal or power not sure) was disconnected, I guess it comes disconnected by default and you connect it if you have an onboard amp. Cars with the PCM 1 and BOSE do not need fiber optic adapters and CAN BUS decoder but have the BOSE amp. Now I'll have to figure out how to secure the unit to the metal rack as it seems that the 2 metal blades do not work as intended, But I have already seen people 3d printed adapters.

POST 6Original post

I have a 2002 C4S with BOSE and am getting ready to take on the install. But before i order the unit I am trying to figure out if i need to order the one for BOSE or not because it isn't a MOST system its analog. Did you end up using the BOSE adapter?
