Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Please, please please help - my 996 Carrera 2 keeps blowing fuse C1 which is "Engine Electronics", has anyone got any ideas of why this keeps happening Many thanks Colin

POST 2Original post

Welcome Colin! That fuse supplies the DME (engine control unit) and DME relay. It might be worth changing the relay to see if that is causing the problem. It is relay No 1 on the relay panel behind the rear seats under the carpet. They are less than £10, so it's worth a shot. Part Number 141.951.253.B

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks for the help...when i put a new fuse in it , a slight burning smell and a bit of smoke came from around the drivers front wheel, so i turned car of then restarted it and i was fine for about a week....but it just keep blowing the fuse...... i will try the relay, ..

POST 4Original post

That doesn't sound good. I'd investigate that area a bit further. There is a cooling fan for the radiators just in front of the wheel arch, but it has it's own fuse, and shouldn't be related to fuse C1. I would have thought that if C1 blows then the engine wouldn't start. Are you sure it is C1? Third row down - on the extreme left of the row.
