Simon, Parr use the PiperCross as opposed to KN, which is less expensive than the KN, they all do work well, you just need to make sure they are cleaned regularly.

Suggestion

I think these are the parts associated with the fabspeed cold air induction kit which keeps the stock airbox and replaces the fliter and tubing....

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Wouldn't want to change to the K&N and find that it didn't work because it got damp/wet.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was having a wander round Parr's website earlier and noticed that they do a direct replacement air filter. I was just wondering if any one had any expereince of these. I've considered fitting the K&N induction unit but just wondered if this would get me to the same sort of place. Thanks, Simon

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the steer Sundeep. I have a question re: cleaning. On the K&N site is say's that you need to keep the filter clean and dry, is that possible on C2 996? Wouldn't want to change to the K&N and find that it didn't work because it got damp/wet. Simon

POST 4Original post

Sorry to hijack this thread. I'm picking my 2001 speed yellow 996 carrera 2 up next week. I'm an ex Audi TTer. Just wondered if anyone recognised the blue parts on the engine photo below? I noticed the blue bits are different to standard.

POST 5Original post

Welcome, difficult to tell from the pic, but it looks like replacement hose sections to improve air flow i.e. Silicone hoses which helps air move faster do you have a close up of the part towards the front, as I have an idea what it is but cant tell from the image, but looks like the fabspeed system http://eagleday.stores.yahoo.net/fa996coairin.html

POST 7Original post

Thanks for the quick response. Here's a closer look.

POST 8Original post

It's not a Fabspeed as the Fabspeed silicon hose is far better quality and bright red. I'd say it's some 'el cheapo' Fabspeed copy, the hose is some botch-job to attempt the 90 degree bend and increase in diameter. Try to find out if the original hose is available for peace of mind.
