Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm sure you can find it much cheaper elsewhere but I decided on a Thursday that I wanted it installed by the weekend so paid the price...

US suppliers are notoriously parochial and most prob wont ship to the UK but Ill post on here how I get on for use for future members.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was reading the FAQ thread on K&N filters as Ive usually altered the induction in all my previous cars (Im new to the 911). Kit looks simple to install but Im just wondering if anyone who has fitted it can give any insight into its performance effects.
Most specifically power, torque and mpg. Ever dynoed before and after?
Subjectively of course these things can be hard to tell though Id be interested in anyone's observations. Cheers.
Oh and still in the 'infatuation' stage with the car
Andrew, can't give an objective (Dyno'd) opinion but can give a subjective one. I've had the K&N induction kit on for around 6 months now and find it superb. The throttle response seems quicker and it revs more freely. The noise also makes a big difference, up at around 4500-5000 revs it makes a lovely booming noise which the car was lacking previously.
On a totally subjective note it makes the engine bay look a little more interesting with something to see in there
I actually fitted and posted pics...

Haven't dynoed for official figures though so would be interested to actually know. Pretty sure there are dyno graphs on the K&N website as a print out is included with kit.
It does make a lovely sound over 4000rpm though
Thanks Dervish, saw your pics on FAQ thread. Very helpful. Seems like a decent piece of kit. Ive fitted them before (to an Elise) and generally worthwhile for the noise alone. I suspect the horsepower gain is fairly slight (despite claims) although it all helps
I do quite a bit on cars myself and looks like a very easy job.
Where did you buy the kit? and how much? The wife is at me to give her something to buy me for Christmas and this looks like a good way to kill 2 birds with one stone.
Cheers
Cheers guys
Just looked there. Charging £289. They are in the US for $265 - $269. Less than half the price and some with free shipping!
For some reason they are not sold normally in the UK. At all. Dont feature on any radar including K&N's own site. So I assume these guys import them. Might try and buy from America given the huge price disparity.
Many thanks
Andrew
no worries, Halfrauds purport to sell them and a number of other modifiers etc but when you go into their site next to none have the actual porsche part (63-7000 IIRC....
)
yeah, Ive drawn a complete blank in the UK other than the helpful link Ive been provided with. To be frank £289 is steep for a plastic tube, small plastic half box and cone filter. Can be obtained in the US for as little as $220. ie little more than £100.
Have mailed a few US sites and will see what develops. US suppliers are notoriously parochial and most prob wont ship to the UK but Ill post on here how I get on for use for future members. Will put the outcome on the FAQ as well.
Cant understand why this product just doesnt seem to be marketed in the UK at all. Odd.
Oh I always treat power hike claims with great scepticism. Surprised if its more than a modest hike - say 5-7 hp. Worth having and I do love the noise they created in my Elise.

Plus the smile factor outweighed the lighter wallet
