Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Run redline 10w50 in our 996 & 986' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Lubricate adequately' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
It looks like your report is good, though, so even though you are concerned it seems the Valvoline is still lubricating adequately?

Suggestion
it is an ester based oil that is compliant with the engine and it has the recommended kinestokes.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Egnine will go over 100k in the next couple weeks. I use Valvoline 5W-40. What could be causing this or is it of no concern?
"The viscosity is a little thin for 5W/40 again, but like last time, that's just something to note. The oil still did a
great job protecting wearing partssee wear metals, which are trending at nice, relatively steady levelsand it 's not
thin due to fuel dilution. No other form of contamination is evident, either, and low insolubles show that oil filtration kept
up with demands. We quite like the trend that's developed over the last couple years. Good!"
SUS viscosity @210F levels for the last 3 years are 62.8, 64.8, and 64.7. Normal is 65-78.
Its important to accompany questions about oil with your location and seasonal weather factors. If youre in Florida, that 40 weight might be a bit thin, etc.
If I understand correctly an oil can only go out of grade for one of two reasons. Fuel dilution or the viscosity improvers (I think that's what they're called to allow multi grade oil) have broken down...
What was your fuel dilution score?
There are other threads out here on oil viscosity that are very interesting. Do a search on Porschetech3, as he has offered a lot of valuable information on this topic. This is from the thread linked below:
Viscosity is the #1 most important property of the oil and I want mine to be
above 14cst most of the time and never lower than 12cst even when on the Track in August when its 100F in the shade and 130F on the asphalt
.............and my oil temp is going up around 275F in the "slow speed section/corners" ...

From what I read, you want to focus on kinestokes at operating temperature, to help you select the oil you want to use. The challenge is to find a compatible oil that maintains it's viscosity (as measured using kinestokes) at operating temperature.

FWIW I switched to 5w-50 Motul 8100 power (I think - off the top of my head - the labels have too many marketing terms on them) ... it is an ester based oil that is compliant with the engine and it has the recommended kinestokes.
I have not had it in there for 5k miles, so no chance to get oil analyzed yet... still waiting for that to happen. But, my oil pressure never drops below 4~4.5 bar unless the engine is heading to idle rpm's, and at idle it is at 2 bar.
Maybe OP could provide more of the UOA data and oil change intervals? 100K miles doesn’t seem that excessive.
I also just switched from Motul Xcess 5W-40 to Power 5W-50 although UOAs have been good with the 5W-40 in mid-Atlantic summers, and probably not going to track any more. Blackstone always indicates I could go more miles. The published specs, price, and useful mileage for Motul Power place it between Xcess and V300.
Similar. I was XCESS 5W-40 GEN2 but on back roads where I was introducing the right pedal to the carpet I found oil pressure was below 3 bar at 3000rpm (new sender unit at the time) I didn't know about POWER 5W-50.. I went to 300V 5W-50.... 8000km on the oil (sample sent and awaiting results). 100mL of oil consumed in that period
