I've noticed some guys on ebay clean these mufflers out and then they are at about 105db, which sounds very nice.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just removed the rear two catalylic converters and installed a Boxster S exhaust, Does anyone have any idea if this was good or bad? And what increases in performance I may have gained on a 2.7? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks, Jose' 02 Boxster Blue/grey/grey.

POST 2Original post

I dont think you gain much HP,just .5 of 1 pony I beleive. I think its done as a cosmetic and tone thing.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

does it give it more throaty tone? I want it to sound like a Porsche should. I've noticed some guys on ebay clean these mufflers out and then they are at about 105db, which sounds very nice. I just dont know what they do to them.

POST 4Original post

hmm...wierd...i thoguht you did the mod already? i acutaly wanted to know how it sound after you deleted the rear 2 cats. or u are just planning to do it? i dont think any of the box's exhuast give you and proformance gains thats u would actualy feel. just my .02 cent.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Initially, I could tell that its sounds better at all mid to high RPM's and I think that it helps out on the performance as well. Not to mention each one of those cats weighs about 20 lbs.

POST 6Original post

Putting on the boxster s exhaust did nothing for sound or hp. It is exactly the same as the base muffler with a different tip. The reason the "S" has a deeper sound has nothing to do with the muffler, but rather the larger displacement of the engine. People "gut" the muffler to get a louder sound. This basically means they cut it open and cut some pipes/baffles to allow a louder sound although it does not offer more hp.
