Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just a quick public service announcement. Haven't been on the forum for a few months, or driving the car that much, but when I did - BOOM. No airbags or injuries though. Only the 2nd "real" accident in my 45 years of driving, but it was a sad one. The "PSA" is for anyone wanting to buy this Cab for the engine & trans. The 3.4 runs exceptionally well, no bore-scoring when i checked bank 2 at time of purchase, running M1 5w50 changed every year, perfect filter, bank 1 pads & chain replaced, cam deviation at 1.9 and 1.0 degrees, water pump at 55k miles, EPS roller bearing installed in 2001. It didn't burn/leak a drop of oil between 3k mile oil changes. The trans worked exceptionally well, I felt I could row the gears at any speed and no syncro sounds. I doubt the accident caused any cracks in the engine/trans mount areas, but I wasn't able to check. It still runs and starts perfectly. It should be a great for someone with a 996.1 roller needing new power and other bits. Unlikely I'll follow up on this post so good luck in advance to anyone who buys it. Very sad to see it gone. https://www.copart.com/lot/50532276/...2-ca-san-diego

POST 2Original post

Condolences and also it was kind of you to put up this post to help others out.

POST 3Original post

Sorry that happened to you. I'm glad that there were no injuries....that is what matters. I hope that your insurance takes care of you and you get something even more fun next time. I bought my 99 996 from a fellow Rennlister, after he had a dashboard fire. He took the insurance payout and upgraded to a 996tt.

POST 4Original post

Well #1, glad you walked away, hopefully unscathed! #2 sad for the car, but crap happens. Hope you get another! I've been driving around town a lot lately and I am not worried about my driving but the amount of distracted drivers on the road nowadays sure sits at the forefront of my eyes......

POST 5Original post

What did it go for with fees and all? Nice car for someone.

Sorry this happened to you... Wow, that looked like a direct driver door T-bone, So glad you're ok. Was very nice you posted here letting all know where the car was for sale. It would be an excellent car to get for a DIY with a roller or bad engine. With lots of other good valuable parts on it. How much did it end up going for..?
