Not sure where you are but if you can local to Northern NJ, I have a local version (not VM) of PIWIS II on an old laptop which you can test / use (I may actually try to sell as I may "upgrade")

Hey There, Long time lurker but first time poster so allow me to introduce myself and my Boxster . My name is Dex and ive attached a photo of my 987.1 2007 Boxster S 6spd. I could really use some help. I've spent countless hours now trying to read data from the DME with no luck. The can bus connection was tapped on pins 36 and 37 on the 40pin DME connector. I have tried various hardware from Raspberry Pi 5, Arduino Uno R4 Minima, Teensy 4.1, Innomaker USB2Can, Canable 2.1, with can hats, mcp2515s, and tja1050s etc. Ive tried on my Macbook Pro m1, my Lenovo yoga running windows 11, as well as the Rasp Pi 5 running ubuntu all with no traffic being seen. Ive had instances where after starting the connection or running the Arduino sketch the radiator fan turns on and/or the spoiler deploys. Has anybody who has successfully tapped the can bus and is pulling data give me a hand? Thanks, I look forward to connecting with everyone here.

Welcome!! I am not at all a techy like you but are you asking whether your can tap DME (CAN BUS) WITHOUT using PIWIS II / III? 1. If you already have PIWIS II / III, that VAS 6154 can pull - I think that VAS 6154 must be on version 1.6.6 though 2. If not, you can search this forum and get a tons of details around how to set up PIWIS VM 3. Not sure where you are but if you can local to Northern NJ, I have a local version (not VM) of PIWIS II on an old laptop which you can test / use (I may actually try to sell as I may "upgrade") Good luck and welcome!

Thank you! I have a Piwis 3 vm up and running. Im looking to make a sequential shift light and eventually a vent display showing the data from the can bus. Thats why Im trying to read it with a microcontroller / single board computer.
