I thought it was the lower control arm that caused the noises :?: I'm getting really fed up with this, can't even have a good engine clearing blast as I'm constantly thinking about the creaking!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, OPC have informed me that I need my trailing arms replaced to elimate the dreaded creaking/ squeeking from the front end. I'm getting so annoyed with their inability to fix the problem... This solution is going to cost me almost £600, on top of everything else I've already replaced... Has anoyone had these replaced before and why? I thought it was the lower control arm that caused the noises :?: I'm getting really fed up with this, can't even have a good engine clearing blast as I'm constantly thinking about the creaking! grrrrrrr....

POST 2Original post

Trailing Arms :? thought those were fossilised with the days of the air-cooled Porsche, unless my use of terms is different What is the status of the anti-roll bar ? as if its cracked (can happen) the front of the car can then creak or get out some grease

POST 3Original post

my front trailing arms were replaced by a good Indy for just over 400. check it's the arms causing the noise by kicking the front wheel hard (and ignition off). if it makes the same noise, then that's usually the problem (especially if it makes a noise at low speeds, going over bumps, in a straight line) if not, then it's probably the top mount struts, especially if it squeaks when turning the wheels side to side. rather than replacing these, you can get some rubber grease with a nossle/straw spray when the car is up on ramps.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, replaced coilovers, top mounts and 1 lower control arm so far and still creaking. Bloody OPC, it's the only thing making owning a Porsche stressfull!
