I’m currently having a problem with the battery /charging system in my car. Talking to a tech it seems likely to be a loose earth connection somewhere on the car. Does anyone know where all the earth connections are so I can check them? Cheers

There are several but if your issue is charging the battery , that should narrow it down. Here's the 987.1 wiring diagram, it should give you a hint and rough location of the Ground Points (look for labels GP1,2,3... ) I'd look primarily at the ground wire and connections from the battery to the chassis in the front, and alternator in the rear.

I’ve tested the battery (which I replaced yesterday) which came back perfect and full charge, indicating it might not be a charging problem. Sticking a multimeter on the battery while running tells me that the alternator is charging the battery as it should at 14.5V. Most likely I have missed an earth connection while reinstalling my transmission. I used jumper cables to bridge the battery negative to the engine block, which didn’t improve anything. I suppose the only next step is to go through each of the ground points on that wiring diagram and check they are all tight.
