Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Guys Can someone tell me what this is, I mean the front duct, which is closed off but looks like an air duct? Sorry if I'm confusing people....

POST 2Original post

It is what you guessed it to be - a closed-off air-scoop. On cars with Tip transmissions, it's open, and there's an auxiliary cooler for the transmission in there... others have installed the cooler to cool the power steering fluid which tends to get hot when you put the car on the track... most people leave it as is... brad

POST 4Original post

The auxiliary cooler for tip must be for the CS only. My C 2.7 with tip transmission has the closed off air-scoop.

POST 5Original post

One of the parts guys at my dealer mentioned how most of the PCA/POC guys with manual Caymans modified theirs to make the center scoop functional- and that they've since seen plenty of benefits...wonder if the same can be achieved by installing the GT3 grill?

POST 6Original post

Functional to do what? Installation of some type of radiator for one of the liquids?

POST 7Original post

Just for the heck of it note that the drag coefficient for the CS manual is .29 and the CS Tip is .30. Guessing the difference is related to the tip's opening for the additional transmission cooling radiator.

POST 8Original post

Thanks for the Cd information. As a point of clarification, the center radiator is not dedicated to the transmission and is installed a part of the primary cooling loop (plugs into blanks in the existing radiator) and increases total cooling capacity. It is not an oil cooler On Tip cars there is additional plumbing at rear of the car that directs some of the coolant for the primary loop through an oil/water HX to cool the transmission. This plumbing is not used or needed when installing the center radiator on a manual car. Cheers,
